The Flight Of the Kaw |
Part 14 |

A happy day at Isla de Saturnariata turned dark. The sky flashed, thunder rolled, and rain began to pour. "Kaw..... I am angry....." A deep, feminine voice said. Linka and Wheeler stood close together, cowering in fear. "Gaia!" Gasped Kaw, where she sat on the Throne of Avion, many miles away. The stone walls of Avion were thick and strong, but Isla de Saturnaria was too close to Hope Island... she had to get Halenadia..... and Linka and Wheeler- back to safety. Throwing all thoughts of herself aside, Kaw spread her wings and flew past the walls of Avion. "Wheeler... what is it...." Whispered Linka into Wheeler's jacket. The rain was in her hair, and it made her shiver. She hugged Wheeler for warmth. "I don't know... we have to get inside..." Slowly, the two hobbled towards the shop... until a gust of wind came and blew the thatched roof off towards the sea. Linka, using all her will against the rain and the wind, held up her fist. "Wind!" The girl cried, planning on creating a counter-gust to the gale that was battering them. She looked at her hand... her ring... it had no power. "You betrayed me!" thundered the voice of Gaia. "Feel my wrath!" "Gaia?" Wheeler looked at the sky. In reply, a gust of wind pushed him and Linka towards the ground. It started to hail. The chunks of ice fell on their backs, stinging their skin, and bruising the two fallen Planeteers. Then everything went quiet. A brilliant light formed amidst the swirling storm clouds. The Kaw, with her mighty wings unfurled, stood with sword and shield in her hand. She looked like an angel, pale and powerful, beautiful in mercy, brilliant in belligerant stregnth. Aside from this one bright light, the sky turned to pure black. The rain had stopped altogether, but a terrible noise could now be heard, like far-off thunder. Linka looked up in amazement. Birds. Thousands of them, of all shapes and sizes. They were flying towards Hope Island. The war had begun. To be continued... |
