"Wow, Uranus. It sure is a surprise to see you again," Gaia said in amazement. "I missed you a lot, should have visited earlier. I can see your planet is not as clear as it used to be," Uranus said, describing the environment. "Well, polluters seem to be on a rampage recently, but I am taking care of it. These are the Planeteers, who are special young people who help me take care of the environment. They are Kwame, Wheeler, Linka, Gi, and Ma-Ti," she said. "And this is Captain Planet, who protects me and the earth," she introduced CP proudly to Uranus. CP made sure to hold Gaia's hand tightly. "Well, I can see you've got a pretty good team of allies," he said. Was it him, or did Ma-Ti detect a bit of sarcasm in Uranus' voice? "They are not just allies, they are friends! They are all very special to me!" Gaia said. "I see," Uranus said. "We have a lot of catching up to do. I can't believe it has been almost three billion years since we have seen each other." All of a sudden, Gaia's Eco-Monitor signaled an emergency. "Planeteers, you are needed. There is an eco-emergency in Romania." "Bozhe moy! And right in the middle of the Translyvania region!" Linka said. "How strange, that's a relatively clean place. No Eco-Villains live near there." "It's more like a conflict resolution. Head over there guys. The power is yours!" Gaia exhorted them. CP and the Planeteers left, wondering how did that strange emergency come up. "Probably some vampire who wants to take over the town," Wheeler said. "I'd rather face a vampire than that Uranus guy," CP said only half joking. "Who does he think he is?" "It seems to me he thinks we are incompetent and that you are not good enough for Gaia," Ma-Ti sighed. "He is totally wrong!" Meanwhile in Hope Island... "At last along!" Uranus told Gaia. "Just the two of us, like it was in the beginning." "Excuse me? Uranus, you broke my heart. You left me because you could not love me anymore. All of a sudden, you were not attracted to me, but wanted Helios (spirit of the Sun) or Hermes (spirit of Mercury) or the same, not me nor Artemis (spirit of the Moon) nor even Aphrodite (the drop dead gorgeous spirit of Venus)!" She sure knew how things were between the spirits of planets and satellites. "Now I realize how wrong I was." "Did things not work out with Umbriel? He and you have been inseparable after you left me." Umbriel was the spirit of one of Uranus' moons, and Uranus' lover too, although Uranus did not exactly dump Gaia for Umbriel. "No, they are fine. But I miss you a lot. And I can tell you miss me too. Look at your planet. Don't you need someone to protect it when you are out of sorts?" "It is the job of all living creatures to protect the earth. And my planet has been blessed with life, which is more than what can be said for yours." Gaia was very self-confident. "My planet is so barren, if it were not for Umbriel and my other moon spirit friends, I would have died of loneliness. But my planet is too far away from Helios to support life. You are very lucky," Uranus told her with puppy dog eyes and a sad smile. But Gaia's intuition told her that Uranus' visit had to do with more than just protecting her planet's life. "Uranus, be honest. Do you want to get back with me?" "YES." "Now Uranus, you told me so long ago that you were not for me, yet now you want me back. You tore my heart apart. I nearly was plundered by Zarm. But now I love someone else, and very, very much, and he loves me too." She smiled, thinking of CP. "So Uranus, it is not gonna work out. But we can still be friends." "But I love you," Uranus said. "I love you, too," Gaia said with tears in her eyes. They hugged. Poor Captain Planet and Umbriel. What Gaia didn't know was that this visit was being taken advantage of by someone other than Uranus. Far away, from his comet, Zarm was watching everything. "I dunno that Uranus guy. But if he is successful in separating Girlie Green and her Super Planet hero, then I can take over the earth, and over Gaia's life, too!" That evil guy Zarm. He would do anything to ruin Gaia. He had tried, albeit unsuccessfully, to kill her self esteem and her planet too. But she was stronger than he could ever be, and had true friends who helped her defend the earth. "Now is the time to attack! Let's see, first I will poison everyone with this new compound. Then I'll make whoever survives be my slave. Then she will be so sad, she will submit to me! Mwahahahaha!" Meanwhile, CP and the Planeteers came back from Transylvania. "Now that was one weird conflict," Gi said. "Yeah, it's not every day that we mediate between a village and a giant who takes their food," Ma-Ti added. "That sounds so out of a storybook." Linka was familiar with legends of giants. "Well, at least they are happy now. If only we could say the same for Cap!" Kwame stated. "I don't like that Uranus guy. And I am not thinking just about myself. Something tells me the earth is in peril," Captain Planet said with a frown on his face. "Let's try to hurry to Hope Island, then! You'll teach Uranus a lesson then." Wheeler tried to cheer CP up. It was gunna be hard. Especially when the arrived at Hope Island. "Captain Planet, Planeteers, I have news," Gaia told them with a serious expression, as she held Uranus' hand. "What?" CP and the five Planeteers asked simutaneously. Uranus did not seem as attractive anymore to them. "Zarm's coming," Gaia said, nearly crying. Part 3 |
