CAS Special Operations Command

SOCOM is the unified command for CAS to carry out special operations: intelligence-gathering, long-range reconaissance, sabotage, hostage rescue, demolitions, assassinations, and other operations that the CAS would prefer remain classified and unknown- covert operations. They share a strong relationship with the SIA and NSA along with other intelligence units and law-enforcement agencies like the CBI. As their jurisdictions tend to overlap, there are certain suggested boundaries that have been established. SEAL Team Six has been given jurisdiction of ocean operations, mainly blue water operations, but usually perform operations up to 20 km inland. The Ferrets usually perform brown water operations and perform operations upt to 300 km inland. CAG primarily operates on all landforms, especially those more than 300 km inland. The 160th SOAR provides all air transportation for SOCOM except for very long-range operations, which are done with the assistance of nearby Air Force or Navy assets capable of air delivery. The 75th Rangers serve as a support and forward deployment force, usually preceeding the actual operation. The have jurisdiction similar to that between the Ferrets and CAG. They perform mostly long-range reconaissance and operations which require a force larger than a platoon such as airfield or LZ takeover and control. They also serve as forward deployed units along with other parts of SOCOM and include a large number of Pathfinders.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

CAS Special Warfare Command

SpecWar are the units that go in fighting, usually to fight low-intensity conflicts and unconventional warfare. The SEALs and Special Forces take these roles and also perform some special operations- mostly reconaissance. Special Forces also serve as specializing in training foreign units in guerrilla and unconventional warfare to allied forces: friendly nations and rebel forces, requiring them to also be experts in counter-insurgency warfare.
The Rangers and XVIII Corps are even larger forces to fight LIC and unconventional warfare. While the Rangers possess more forms in insertion/extraction and more variety of combat operations training, the Airborne units also serve as "shock troops", providing a sudden and powerful strike against the target, they are trained to serve as short-term assaults to preceed a larger force, unless the attack is a sudden decisive attack- in which the force is then quickly extracted. The 16th Light Infantry Division is trained to serve in small-scale combat warfare that does not require the full force of an armored cavalry or infantry division. Not to incite debate, but technically the CSMC MEU(SOC)s are similar to the Army Rangers in operational theaters and training, but have a fairly limited range outside of the ocean theater, usually within a few hundred kilometers of shore.
The Air Force units are the standard delivery units, and the CCTs, SOWTs, PJs all serve as forward deployed units for larger forces- usually along with Rangers or other SpecWar units. The 24th SOW consists of long-range fixed-wing aircraft, and the 52nd SOW consists of medium and long-range helicopters. The Army 300th Air Scouts are different because they fly LAVs, and medium and short-range gunships for SpecWar.
