- The land all around the lone voyager, the
Everman, was desolate. Not a blade of grass, not even a single
tree, the landwas dead. But,there was still hope, all the Everman
had to dowas reach the valley. The valley of judgement.
Slowly, the Everman made his way to the top of the ridge. There
it was,the one place left in the world that contained life, a
lush green valley, nuzzled in between a distant mountain range
and a plain of dust.
Down into the valley, the Everman walked, making hisdecent down
to the valley floor. In the center of this lushgreen valley,
stood a tree, but not just any tree. A tree of trees, the grandfather
of history. And upon the Grandfather tree's lowest limb, it sat.
Wings folded at it's sides and head staring down at the Everman.
" Why do you look at me so ?" the Everman inquired,
" Why is it that you stare at me so intensely ?"
Leaning it's bare pink head forward, black beak and eyes glistening
in the midday sun, the Great and Ancient Vulture spoke "
But Everman, you do know why it is that I look upon you so intensely.
You are the Everman, he who is eternal. The one who is forever
destined to walk this path."
Looking down at the base of the Grandfather tree, the Everman
pondered the great bird's answer.
Looking up again, the Everman spoke " But, Great and Ancient
one, why am I forever destined to come to this place? I have
to know !"
Again the vulture spoke " You are eternal my friend, as
eternal as nature. You are here to start it again. You are here
so that you and your kind can begin anew, to right the wrongs
of your race, to make amends for your past mistakes and begin
again." The Great and Ancient Vulture finished.
" Why am I forever destined to meet with you, here in this
valley, what is your part in this eternal play ?" the Everman
inquired.
" I am here only to give advice.I am not here to show you
what path you are to take. I am only here to advise." and
the Great and Ancient Vulture didn't stop there, it continued
" So my friend, the choices are left up to you once again.
Are you going to take my advice in stride or disregard it once
more ?" As smoothly as the ancient vulture had begun, it's
cold, emotionless voice faded into silence.
" I'll listen to any advice that you have to give, I donot
wish to make the same mistakes which doomed my race, please advise
me. Tell me what I can do to make amends formy races shameful
past. Tell me please !"
Upon hearing the emotion and sincerity that was in theEverman's
voice, the great and ancient vulture began it's final speech."
If you wish to make amends, to live your life and for all of
your kind to live their lives. You are going to have to be able
to live with nature without exploiting it. To live taking only
what you need from it and nothing more. And that is what I advise
you to do, but keep in mind, I only give advice."
With that being said, the great and ancient vulture remained silent, not
speaking a single word there after.
The Everman walked past the Grandfather tree, past the Great
and Ancient Vulture, ascended the other valley wall, the valley
to his back. Keeping in mind what the Great and Ancient Vulture
had said, always keeping in mind what the Great and Ancient Vulture
had said to him. Always remembering the Great and Ancient Vulture
and the Grandfather Tree.
