12/12/2001: Cambridge

Today we were almost completely fogbound!
We first saw the sun at 3:29pm, and saw it set at 3:38pm
(Then we drove back into the fog)

This page is a little weird because of the streetscape, just scroll it to the right - as I can't be bothered fixing it.

We just loved the street scapes
(Can you spot the ghosts the imaging software has put in?)

The clock on the square at Trinity College

The square at Trinity College
It's this square that you have to try and run around
while the clock is striking twelve. (Remember 'Chariots of Fire'?)

Byron apparantly lived in this tower.
Legend has it that he didn't like the college rules that he
could not keep a dog or a cat as a pet, so he got a bear instead.

Christopher Wren built this library. It holds
unimportant stuff like Newton's diaries etc. etc.

Kings College

The Chapel at Kings College, one of the
most famous buildings in England.
(Which is why it costs three pounds fifty to get in,
and you can't take any photos)

The Mathematical Bridge.
Legend has it that it was designed by Newton.
What is definite though is that it was originally built without nails/screws/bolts etc.
They took it apart to figure out how it was built, then couldn't get it back together!
(Which is why it now has bolts in it)

They like sundials in this city

Though they don't work on foggy days

Cambridge = = Bike City
We actually saw a man being booked by two policemen for riding in a 'push' zone
(I couldn't get far enough away to take a photo, before he pushed his bike away)

WOO HOO! First time on a double-decker bus!
