David joined the Marine Corps January 21, 1970, and was released from active duty on January 20, 1974. I was given an Honorable Discharge on January 20, 1976. He went through basic training at Paris Island, where he was a part of Platoon 210. Infantry training was attended at Camp LeJune in North Carolina. He also attended Basic Bakers Course. He played 8 man football were he was a running Back(#22) and his team went on to become base champions.
He was transferred to Camp Pendleton, Ca in January 1971 and attached to Air Wing Battalion Supply as a supply clerk. After receiving a meritorious promotion to LCpl he was transferred to Iwakunni, Japan in March of 1972.
David was promoted to Cpl in 1972. While in the Marine Corps, David was a
Boxer and became the WEST PAC Welter Weight Champion in a Tournement in Okinawa, Japa and also became a Human Relations Instructor. He served on temporary duty in Rose Garden, Thailand, Subic Bay, Philippines (Olongapo City), Ben Hua Air Base, Republic of South Viet, Nam.
He received a Meritorious field promotion to Sgt. in Thailand in 1972. After returning stateside in 1973 to Camp Pendleton, California, David worked in Human Relations and worked with Marine Corps & Watts children program while teaching Human Relations and playing 8 man football, again in 1973. Once again the team was Base Champions.
David was a Base All Star and starting Running Back at the Polaris Bowl in California. David was blessed to receive a Football Scholarship to the Univ. of Nevada at Reno. After David separated from Active Duty on January 20, 1974, he relocated to Reno, Nevada.
