The Fewer . . . The Prouder . . . The Women Marines
Marnisha E. Fleetwood, LCpl,
joined the United States Marine Corps when she went to Boot Camps on Parris Island on December 15, 1997 where she was part of Company N, Platoon 4008. Marnihsa graduated on March 13, 1998 with a meriterious promotion to Private First Class because of college credit and became one of the fewer, the prouder, A Woman Marine. Upon completing Boot Camp she served one month as a recruiter's assistant and then went to Marine Corps Training (MCT) in North Carolina at Camp Geiger. She then attended Military Occupational Speciality (MOS) School in Meridian, MS at Marine Aviation Training School Group (MATSG) where she met her husband. There she trained to be an Aviation Maintenance Specialist and graduated in July of 1998. She was then stationed at Cherry Point, NC with the Second Marine Aircraft Wing (2d MAW), Marine Wing Headquaters Squadron Two (MWHS-2), Aviation Logistics Department (ALD). She was released from Active Duty on December 14, 2001 and then relocated to Virginia Beach, VA. She is currently on Inactive reserve duty until, December 2005.
