This picture of the Altec A-7 "Voice of the Theatre" was depicted at the backside of the classic Altec LP record: "Odyssey" - featuring such artists as Rita Coolidge, Joan Armtrading and Quincy Jones. This LP was meant to be an excercise in good taste and professional mixing, at same time promoting Altec equipment as "the" brand for professional sound people. As indeed it was, yielding great dynamic range. However, most of the copies were pestered by quite a lot of surface noise. Which did not detract from the performances of the artists, but rather the manufacturing of the record itself! |
