GRUMMAN F-14A TOMCAT by Mike Hill

------------------------------------

This aircraft is depicted as an F-14A serving on board the
USS Enterprise in 1975.

I'll say first off that I'm far from satisfied with the aircraft
from a visual point of view - there are a number of problems with
it in this regard. From a technical aspect, I'm right at 100% with
the parts, even though there are quite a number of components used
in the structure. Other than to re-cast the whole thing I couldn't
glue several parts and couldn't entirely eliminate the `circular'
effect of the glove assembly when it's viewed from certain angles.

The apologies out of the way.......

For all that I'm sure you will be happy with it because it really
does look and fly like an F-14. The afterburners come in at 100%
power and the wings fold at 270kts. Due to parts constraints the flaps
are permanently down when the wings are extended, but visually you will
find this isn't a real problem as it doesn't take long to get up to this
speed anyway. The winglets do operate with the flaps control however.

CARRIER LANDINGS
The spoiler values have been increased to 7 so that if you apply them
on or about touch-down the aircraft will simulate an arrested landing
on board a carrier. You can use them in flight of course, but just
a touch of airbrake/spoiler will be ample to slow down - so be careful!

LANDING NOTES
The F-14 is a `hot' aircraft and it's not an easy aircraft to land
if you're not set up right. Try to approach at about 170kts aiming
to come over the fence at about 150kts. The aircraft is heavy so
be careful of your sink rate on final approach. Once you get the
knack of it you'll like it, and it will give you a lot of satisfaction
when you get it down on the deck safely.

GENERAL
Other than that, it's a nice aeroplane to fly - it's stable and quite
docile even over Mach 1.

No responsibility accepted for any vagaries in your system.
As usual, load the texture files into the Texture Directory and the AIR
file into the Sim or Pilots Directory. You'll need BAO's FSFS to run
it of course.

Load the AIR file into either the SIM or PILOT's Directories and the
Texture files (AF files) into the TEXTURE directory.

Any comments will be appreciated (and answered).
