LOCKHEED YF-22/F-119 by Mike Hill
------------------------------------

The aircraft is painted as the first prototype Lockheed/Boeing/General
Dynamics YF-22. The aircraft first flew in 1990 as a contender for
the Advanced Tactical Fighter (ATF) contract. The aircraft has been
accepted for production with an increased wing area (plus 1'6" span)
and a number of other changes including enlarged tailplanes, smaller
fins and changes in the forward profile. Production is expected to
be for 600+ aircraft.

If I'd known what the difficulties were going to be with the design
and building of this aircraft I don't think I would have bothered
starting it! I had wondered why there weren't any YF-22s on any of
the Boards....now I know. It is a very complicated shape, and even
now I am far from happy with it - but it gives a good representation
of the aircraft I feel. If you wanted to change a few things around
slightly and re-paint it, I think you'd get very close to the final
production F-119 in squadron servive.

I'm very pleased with the way it flies - everything seemed to slot in
very well and even though it's a very hot aircraft and will take you
to 60,000' in a very short time, it handles extremely well in the
circuit and will hold an ILS glide slope nicely.

PANELS
I've been flying it mainly with Carsten Brettschneider's shareware
panel and Max Spoerri's MD-81 panel. Both work very well, though the
usual FS5 panels are very suitable of course. It should work OK with
Tom Main's combat panel also.

NOTE
A lot of work has gone into this aircraft and while you are welcome
to change anything you want to via the AFX file, I would ask that
appropriate credit always be given to the Designer in the main file.
It must remain freeware to all.

No responsibility accepted for any vagaries in your system.
As usual, load the texture files into the Texture Directory and the AIR
file into the Sim or Pilots Directory. You'll need BAO's FSFS to run
it of course.

Any comments will be appreciated (and answered).
