What is the Michigan Merit Award Program?

Public Act 94 of 1999 ( the Michigan Merit Award Scholarship Act) provides a merit based postsecondary scholarship for high school graduates beginning with the Class of 2000. Students entering an approved college or other approved postsecondary educational institution may be eligible for a $2,500 scholarship. Beginning with the Class of 2005, there will be an additional potential award of up to $500.

To be eligible students but take the MEAP High School Tests in mathematics, reading, science and writing and score at or above the Michigan standard. Students who take all four tests and pass at least two tests may also qualify if they score at or above the 75th percentile on the ACT or SAT, or achieve qualifying scores on the ACT Work Keys job skills assessment test.
