Life Taken

Stepping up to heaven's pearly gates
We imagine what, ahead, waits
Will there be the young and the old?
Will the streets be paved with gold?
We often ask "Is this where I will go?"
Sasha Burton, rest in peace, now knows
Her life was taken by a drunk behind the wheel
And now beside her memorial we kneel

A year has passed, though it feels a day
We look at life in a new way
Angels' exist, we know because she's ours
So let's dry our tears and place our flowers
Even though I cry today,
I'll smile with tears in my eyes
Because though her body is not here,
Her memory never dies
