Special Meeting and Open House
May 26, 2006 - On June 6, 2006 Florence Toastmasters in conjunction Florence Toastmasters AM club will host a special open house and demo meeting. Refreshments will be provided.
First Meeting In New Facility
March 22, 2006 - The new meeting facility, see photo on the right, is fasntastic!! We are very fortunate to have this fine facility to meet in.
The room has seating capacity for 24 and several audiovisual features. The chairs are very comfortable! The audiovisual features include a hi-tech projection system for PowerPoint presentations; a TV and a low tech dry eraser board. And several tables to display Toastmaster material.
What a great place to have an Area 22 speech contest!
Membership Drive Has Started - Goal 20 Members
March 22, 2006 - At last night's meeting, Florence Toastmasters' started our membership drive. The drive will last for four meetings, ending on May 2, 2006 with the winner to be announced at the May 16, 2006 meeting.
The goal is to bring the club up to charter strength, which is 20 members. This is a very realist goal. The club currently has 14 members.
Prizes will be awarded for first and second place. The first place prize is a Toastmasters coffee mug. The second place will be a Toastmasters ballpoint pen.
Here is how the contest works: If you bring a guest(s) to a meeting you will receive 5 points per guest. If a guest returns to a meeting you will receive 1 point. If a guest joins the club you receive 5 points. If a member gives a speech they receive 2 points and for participating in a meeting a member receives 1 point.
Meeting Facility
Starting March 21, 2006 Florence Toastmasters will be meeting at the Health and Science Campus of Florence Darlington TEC.
Guest
February, 2006 - The club hosted two special guest at the February 21 meet held at the Drs. Bruce and Lee Foundation Library at 6:30pm. Lamanda Gaskins, Division B Governor — District 58, which includes the Florence area in South Carolina and Bruce Gilbert, Eastern Division Governor — District 65, in New York visted the club.
Mr. Gilbert was on vacation in the area and stopped by to observe first hand the differences and similaries in the way the clubs run their meetings. Ms. Gaskins was there to greet the District 65 Governor from New York.
Both Ms. Gaskins and Mr. Gilbert offered ideas on how to grow the clubs membership.
