The folkloristic dance group "Achterhookse Folkoredansers" are 45 enthousiastic men and women, young and old, living in Ruurlo, a village in the east part of The Netherlands. Through their dances and costumes they want to keep the tradition alive.
Founded in 1937, this group is one of the oldest in the country. Every year
they organise the regional famous street fair, as well as other events like
regional contests, international folklorefestivals and folkore wedding parties.
In 1997, for their 60th anniversary, an international festival was
organised with 5 international groups participating. The work was immense and
successfull too.
Whether in their
own region, in other parts of the country or abroad, they travel almost everywhere
to show the public our dances and costumes. Recenty visits were made to Portugal
, Hungary and Germany.
The guests stay with the families at their homes: they always have a lot of
fun.
