Nephew Adam called from Susquehanna County, PA and reported killing a 4 point with his bow and arrow that was feeding on Hobb's Knob. He spotted a pair of bucks feeding and crouched down on edge of field until they came over about 20 yards and made a good shot. Pretty respectable for a 14 yr old, way to go, Adam!

Bill and I set up on the top of the ridge among the oaks and scrub brush. He on the main atv path to the east side and I set up off another path about 80 yards west of him. Bill called on the radio about 8am and said a doe and 2 bucks were headed up the trail his way. He grunted the little 8 pointer over to him but decided to save him for next year. All the deer headed my way and the 8 point made a scrape about 40 years down the trail from me before moving off. Another scrub buck popped up over ridge but didn't off a clean shot to Bill before dropping back over. 9:45 - I look out of my climber to the right and suddenly a doe has slipped in from behind me. I grab my bow and get turned in her direction. I have to make the 25 yd shot through a basketball sized hole in the branches and leaves about 3 yards just in front of me. I line her up in the sights and let it fly - right over her back! I must have just clipped one of the branches and sent it high. The doe had know idea where the arrow came from so she just stood around nervously just out of range before moving off.

I get set up over the top of the ridge in the freshly logged off woods where I know deer move through frequently. Its a frosty morning up in the pine tree. About 8:30 I catch a deer moving broadside behind my stand about 20 yrds. With a well timed "hey!", I get the 6 pointer to stop perfectly between 2 trees. My arrow hits high, at the base of his spine and down he goes like a ton of bricks. Although I would have rather shot a doe, I am elated to get a deer since we have been out of meat for a couple months!
