Susquehanna Couny, PA -
Jackson Township
This is a satelite photo of our land.  It is about 50 acres.  It has a 14 acre field up at the top that has awesome views.
Our son Jacob in the field on Memorial Day, 2001.
My parents, Mark and Ruth Longacre, bought this farm in the 1950's and worked it until 2000 when my brother Al and wife Helen purchased the farm from them.  We then aquired the land from them in 2003.
10/4/03 Hunted first day of archery with Loren, Jeff, and Adam.  A storm rolled in from the west during the night and it rained, blew, hailed all day Saturday.  The sun even came out for a minute.  I shot a doe about 7:30 on the corner of the knob.

The kids and I spend this past weekend at camp.  We got a dumptruck load of modified gravel and Dad spread it with the backblade to finish off the driveway.  The mailman stopped by and said he saw a "big" bear in the camp last week.  Yeeha!

7/7/03
Excellent camping weekend.  Spent Thurs., Fri., Sat., and Sunday at camp.  We dug the outhouse pit and installed it.  Also dumped some quarry rubble in the driveway to fill up the mudholes. Saturday afternoon I saw a young bear on the edge of the top field!

6/29/03
The need for an outhouse made itself evident after a few weekends of camping. I built one using lumber that we had sawn out of some spruce trees that we had cut down by our house in NY.  Now for digging the pit...

Jake and I spend the weekend caping.  It rained from middle of the night Friday until Saturday afternoon.  Got the van and camper stuck in the driveway.
6/2/03
Julia, Jake and I camped this past Friday night. Saturday moring Dad came over with the sickle bar mower and knocked down the high grass around the camp.  It started raining about noon and poured the rest of the day and night.  We cleared out and went to stay at Grandma's.

5/30/03
The long awaited first camping trip is finally taking place this weekend!  The weather has been cold and rainy all month but were going to brave it even though more rain is expected tomorrow.

4/26-27/03
We dug the remanider of the holes and got the rest of the fence and gate up.  The next step is to get some fill in the driveway since it has a few wet spots.

4/18-19/03
We dug most of the holes and got the posts and rails put up.  The ground is unbelievably rocky. Usually its not bad until you get down about 10", then the rocks start.

4/17/03
We are heading to PA this weekend since I have Good Friday off work. I plan on digging the holes for a split-rail fence which will be at our entrance to the woods and camping area.  It is rocky ground so it will be fun trying to dig 18 holes!

4/8/03
We are anxious to do some camping at our new spot and are just waiting for the weather to break.  It snowed 6" yesterday and is about 35 deg. today so I guess we aren't quite there yet.  We have a '93 Coleman pop-up camper and a new generator this year so camping should be a little more cushy.
