About Me

My name is Erin, and I'm 17 years old. I'm a a senior in high school. Besides playing the flute, I also play the piccolo and alto saxophone, and I tinker on the drums, guitar, and piano. I love all music except for rap, from classical to rock. I also have an obsession with the Beatles :) I love writing too, and I'm the editor of my school's literary magazine and on the newspaper staff.

I've played the flute since fifth grade, and I always loved it. I used to go to my town's Memorial Day Parade when I was little and watch the band go by, thinking "That's going to be me someday..." It was during seventh grade that I realized I wanted to go further with it. Now I spend much of my time teaching flute to beginners and assisting others at my school. I will be majoring in music education in college next fall, and I hope to become a successful band director and flute teacher. 


                

                

                

                









                                     





Musical Achievements:


5th grade: Outstanding Beginning Band Member award (no seating auditions)

6th grade: 2nd chair all year

7th grade: 1st chair

8th grade: 3rd chair 

9th grade: No seating auditions. Dedicated member of the Marching and Symphonic band. Outstanding award for NYSSMA Solo & Ensemble solo. Began tutoring new flute members of the band.

10th grade: Member of the 2001 All-County Concert Band (1st chair, 2nd flute section). Received perfect score (100) on all state audition piece  and chosen as an Alternate. Recipient of the Most Outstanding Band Member award, 2000-2001 school year. Featured soloist at spring concert. Taught at a summer music program for middle schoolers and gave private lessons.

11th grade: Member of the 2002 All-County Concert Band (1st flute section). Received perfect score (100) on all state audition piece and chosen as an Alternate. Recipient of the Most Outstanding Band Member award, 2001-2002 school year. Featured soloist in marching band show. Taught at a summer music program for middle schoolers and gave private lessons.
