CAREER/COLLEGE
MAJOR EVALUATIONS

Purpose
:
To guide an individual into that field of endeavor that he/she will find the most rewarding and will be able to make the greatest contributions. We aim to use systematic and comprehensive clinical interviewing and testing. Our objective is to remove all the complexities and ambiguities as well as unnecessary expenses and wear and tear on the individual and his/her family. Our process will clarify for an individual what his/her true course is, and aid him/her in establishing a clear career goal.

Elements:

Clinical interviewing in which we look at:

Family Influences
Health and Physical Limitations
Past Job Successes
Occupational Desires
Methods of Problem Solving and Decision Making
Educational Aspiration
Academic History
Values
Interests
Goals
Emotional Factors

Intelligence Testing:

We will incorporate the Wechsler Test in order to help determine capacity to learn and profit from educational opportunities.

Personality and Interest Testing:

We will integrate the Holland (Self Directional Search) with the Cattell (16 Personality Variables) materials in order to match both personality and interests with suitable careers.  We also use the Myers- Briggs Type Indicator when appropriate.  Other personality and interest tests may be substituted when needed.

Through these tests, we will also be able to provide constructive feedback about:

Problem Solving Patterns
Patterns for Coping with Stress
Patterns of Interpersonal Interaction
Organizational and Work-Setting Patterns
Patterns for Career Activity Interests
Suggested Compatible Careers and Hobbies
Suggestions for Self-Improvement
Personality strengths and weaknesses

Ability and Aptitude Testing:

We will use selected elements of the Multi-Dimensional Aptitude Battery and the Comprehensive Ability Battery in order to further define his/her talents within the verbal and performance areas. Various dimensions that will be looked at are: verbal ability, numerical ability, spatial ability, attention to details, inductive and deductive reasoning, memory, mechanical ability, vocabulary, and fund of general knowledge.  Other aptitude tests will be used when appropriate.

The Deliverable:

Results of Each Test

Follow-Up Consultation

Outcome:

Each individual will now have a clearer and more accurate picture of himself/herself to include strengths as well as weaknesses. He/she will know where improvement is needed. He/she will now have a reliable career direction to take, and will be able to effectively choose his/her college major and/or career choice.
