Ep. 9 by Lady Dragonspaw
Katrina woke up. It was horribly early, to her senses at least. She had to go back to school after the long vacation. Stupid alarm, it must be wrong some how… She turned over and kicked a sleeping Shadow. Shadow in turn yowled and bit Katrina's foot. That was what woke Katrina up. Bolting up in bed Katrina shouted, "Shadow! What on earth did you do that for? That hurt!"
Shadow smoothed her ruffled fur and stole a look at the clock. She said, "You were the one that kicked me. So I think I should be asking that question. Besides I've been having strange dreams. I think they were about Before, in your last life. I can't seem to remember them though. Never mind that, we need to get you to school! We're running late!"
Later that day...
Katrina was sitting with the other senshi when she saw a red headed boy she had never seen before. She turned to Chrissy and said, "Do you know who that guy is over there?"
Chrissy nearly shouting said, "Where? Where? What guy? It better not be Tim you're talking about!"
Katrina blushed and said, "Shhh! I don't want the whole school knowing I'm curious. And no it's not Tim. You know, for someone that supposedly doesn't really like him you sure act like you do. It's just that there is this new guy, over there with the red hair, and I was wondering if you knew about him. He seems… familiar."
Ana said, "Finally decided to drop Stephen and go for this new guy?"
Katrina said, "What?! For everyone's information Stephen and I are just friends. Also, that isn't the reason I want to know about this new guy is that I got vibes from him. Maybe he could be something like a male sailor."
Chrissy murmurs to self, "Wonder what he looks like in a skirt…"
All have a sweat drop and ignore Chrissy.
Sandi looked over at him. The boy was fitting in already. Then she said, "Or he could be a new bad guy. Never know what Larfiz might be up to."
Briana said, "Hey, you guys! Did you watch the news last night? There are sailor senshi in Japan! Isn't that cool? We aren't the only ones."
Everyone's attention was dragged to the other sailors. That was all they talked about for the rest of the day. Each of the group had a favorite almost instantly. Suddenly a boy sat down at their table (it's still lunch). He had light brown hair and blue eyes and was lanky. He said, "It's odd to hear the senshi from Dementerville talking about the senshi from Tokyo."
Everyone gasped. Ana said, "What are you talking about?"
The boy said, "My name is Max. I work at the sanitarium and know what's going on. You guys are the senshi and you are fighting former super-villains that escaped from the sanitarium. Do you want me to name each you?"
Katrina stammered, "But… but, how do you know who we are? Other people have seen us and didn't make the connection"
Max looked down at the school lunch he had bought, the 'surprise sandwich of the day', and idly commented as he ate it, "I wonder if eating this sandwich is similar to gnawing on the bones of a fellow student. Well, as for your question it's the chicken. At our factory they put something in it that makes you gullible. That avoids mass hysteria, I mean if most people realized how many super-villains are out there, there would be chaos. I want to help you. Let me know your decision when we next meet."
After he left the table quite a few words flew around the table about him, such as 'psycho', 'evil trap', 'possibly an ally', and 'he doesn't work there, he escaped'.
Meanwhile….
Larfiz put his feet up on the desk in front of him. Looking at himself in the mirror he decided that he needed a new look. He brushed a hand over his hair, after studying the fashion magazines Naska had. First he created long blond hair, not a good style. Then he made it curly as Shirly Temple, too girly. Finally he decided on a style. The result was… interesting. It was short spiked and was three different colors. The colors were brown, yellow, and red. They made it look almost like his hair was on fire. Larfiz was pleased.
Norif wasn't so pleased. The hair style looked good, and for Norif that wasn't good. It was bad enough that Naska liked Larfiz but for Larfiz to start looking cooler! That was worse. It showed that maybe Larfiz was losing interest in destroying Dementerville, the town that housed the 'special' sanitarium that only housed the super evil villains. Like Lex Luther, the Penguin, and even Queen Beryl at one point. And they had escaped. Norif knew he must attack somewhere tonight. Possibly targeting a place with many cool young teens, just to show Larfiz how little fashion and looks mattered.
Later that day…
Katrina said, "Hey everybody come over to my house quick!"
Everyone rushed over to Katrina's house. It's just after school and all the girls are panting from running so fast. Chrissy said, "Where's the enemy?"
Katrina replied, "No enemy. I just wanted to tell everyone that Steve's band is having a concert tonight! And I think Kyle, that's that guy's name, will be there too. So I can talk to him." Chrissy, who had run the whole way there, was about ready to kill Katrina. She even lunged at her but the rest of the girls held her back. Finally all relented under Katrina's begging that they go with her.
At the concert...
Katrina and Chrissy were talking at the concert, one of the several bands that neither of them knew was playing. Chrissy said, "Hey this is pretty cool. I thought you had just made everyone run over for something mind-numbingly boring."
Katrina smiled and said, "Thanks for the compliment. Hey there's Kyle! I want to talk to him."
Katrina rushed off and Chrissy found Sandi grumbling, seemingly to herself, at the vending machine. Chrissy said, "What are you doing?!"
Sandi started and looked up at Chrissy. She said, "Oh, Reepy insisted on coming and now she wants food, but doesn't know what she wants. I mean it's vending food, what's the big deal. Other then the fact she's spoiled of course."
A little voice squealed out of Sandi's pocket and said, "I am not spoiled! I was just hungry. Watching all those cute human guys sing makes me hungry!"
Chrissy made a face and said, "Um, Reepy, why are you watching human guys? You're a gerbil!"
Briana came over and over heard enough to know what they were talking about. She said, "I have that problem with Bruce too. He likes Brittany Spears. So, now whenever he is bad I burn a picture of her in front of him. He's not here right now. He's watching TV, trying to catch a glimpse of her."
Reepy shouted, "What! He likes her?! Sandi, we need to go to Briana's right now!"
Back to Katrina…
Katrina walked up to Kyle and said, "Hi, I'm Katrina. I'm in your lunch period and your history class. Welcome to Dementerville high."
Kyle blinked, she seemed familiar, although she was in his history class so that could be all. Kyle said, "Oh, hi. How come everyone knows I'm new?"
Katrina said, "It's the middle of the year! Of course we'll know. So, do you know anyone in any of the bands that are going to play tonight?"
Kyle said, "Only this guy I just met, his name is Zach. His band is playing right now."
Katrina said, "That's cool. One of my good friends Steve(note: Steve is said in a dreamy voice) is in another… I'm not sure when they play. So, where did you go before you came to our school?"
Kyle hesitated and Steve came over. Steve was a little hostile towards Kyle already and said, "Hey guys. What's up? Hey, Kevin is it, I heard you got kicked out of private school. Is it true?"
Kyle wasn't too happy about being called Kevin but he said, "It's Kyle. Yeah, I got kicked out of private, it's not too fun any way. So, are you pumped up to perform?"
Steve said, "Yeah I sure am. Just out of curiosity what were you guys talking about before I came over?"
Katrina didn't pick up that Steve didn't like Kyle… She said, "Actually we were just talking about you and Zach. You two are the only ones in the bands we know. So, do either of you know a guy named Max? Hey, I gotta go. Talk to you both later."
Both guys had no clue who she was talking about. Of course it didn't help that she had only said the first name and then run off. They got to talking and became friends.
Katrina ran over to Max, (idle observation, she sure runs around a lot), and said, "Hey Max! You're on probation so to speak. We've decided to trust you but only to a point. Seeing as you're a stranger."
Max looked at Katrina mildly, she can get a little over enthusiastic at times. He said, "That's cool. You can trust me. I'll tell you guys any information that I get."
DUN DUN DUN!!!!
Suddenly Norif appears and so does a giant walking keyboard (a monster). The monster starts shooting pieces of music paper at everybody and they pin all that they hit to the ground. The senshi run off to go transform…
As expected out pop the Sailor Senshi! Each gives an ever so corny but impressive speeches. Then of course comes the fighting!
The keyboard lunges at Sailor Icesis
She dodges.
The keyboard shoots music at Sailor Starfire, who ducks and nearly loses her pig tails. Then the keyboard trips over one of its past victims, it's Kyle.
Sailor Dragonspaw tries to attack but gets attacked. Luckily Sailor Starfire and Sailor Sandrock combine an attack and stop the keyboard before it can really hurt her….
Sailor Yui and Sailor Icesis, not to be left out, decide the other sailors have the monster under control and start after Norif. Sailor Yui as usual pulls out a feather and discards it with a look of disgust. Then the two both take a shot at Norif. Icesis using her usual attack and yui using a brick, (ladies and gentlemen, don't try that at home). He easily ducked the blasts and laughed mockingly until he saw his boot… it's on the ground in a chunk of ice. Deciding it is time to make a strategic retreat he vanished again.
Sailor Starfire and Sandrock do paper, rock, & scissors to see who got to do the last attack before Dragonspaw finishes the monster off. Starfire won! Jumping up and down with glee she used Star Dust Pow! The flames envelop the monster and it is paralyzed. Sailor Dragonspaw got up and shouted, "How dare you mess with this wonderful music! So many of us pour our heart and soul into making at and you mock all we have achieved! I, who am learning the keyboard, will destroy you! I won't let you hurt my friends!"
Sailor Dragonspaw felt a new, stronger, attack of her own rising. She shouts, "Cookie Cyclone!" Hundreds of razor sharp cookies flew and surrounded the monster (sorta like oak evolution with cookies) and all that was left a piece of plastic.
A little while later Katrina and Kyle are talking again. This is possible because soon after the monster was destroyed people woke up and went back into having the informal concert. Kyle said, "That bump on my head…"
Katrina a little nervous said, "Oh, heh, have to watch where you're going."
Kyle said, "No, that's not how I got it. I remember now. You're my twin sister. We're dragons, shape-shifting, flying though space dragons. A lot of it is vague but… I know that you're my sister."
Katrina looked at him oddly and said, "You've got to be crazy! How could I have a twin brother?"
Kyle said, "Well, you were adopted right? So was I, so it's possible. Can't Shadow back me up? I remember her, so she should remember me. Hey, where is she?"
Katrina was surprised, she felt herself starting to believe him. Suddenly she saw memories of her pastlife and Kyle flash before her eyes. She said, "Oh, she and the other cats are taking a day off. I think they are drinking hot cocoa, eating catnip, or something like that. Well, who can we tell? And how did you get kicked out of private?"
Kyle shrugged. He suggested, "Maybe we can just tell people that could understand at first. Then later other people, when we have proof. Oh, well, I wouldn't wear the uniforms. My new private school had stupid uniforms and was way worse then the other ones."
Katrina said, "That's a good idea. Come with me, I'll introduce you to the other girls."
Meanwhile…
Larifiz shouted at Norif, "You did what?! Without my orders! And you lost your boot too." Larfiz moved his arm as if he were going to back hand Norif and instead hit Norif with a wave of power. The wave threw Norif against the wall. Larfiz said, a little calmer now, "I hope you've learned from your mistakes. You are one of the best but that doesn't mean I'm going to let you get away with insubordination."
Back to the senshi…
All the senshi, including cats and gerbils, drop their jaws in shock now that Katrina and Kyle are done telling them everything. Chrissy is the first to recover and says, "You guys are twins? You don't look anything alike... unless you're a girl Kyle. But I'd guess you aren't 'cause you wouldn't look good in a skirt." Chrissy received only a blank look for that statement from the group.
Ana said, "Chrissy, forget about the skirt thing okay? You've been thinking and talking about it ever since you heard the phrase 'male sailor'. You're getting creepy. And fraternal twins don't look alike, only identical twins do."
Shadow said slowly, "Hey! I think I remember you. When I was a kitten you hugged too hard. And used to dribble crumbs of whatever you where eating on me."
Reepy said dryly, "Maybe he was trying to batter you. Yum yum… fried moon cat," she looked over at Shadow who was about to burst with rage and said, "Hey I was just kidding. Kidding."
Shadow smoothed her fur and said calmly(a little too calmly to be telling the truth), "Of course you were. I knew it all along."
Bruce quietly murmured to Snowy, "Is it just me or do those two never seem to get along?"
Snowy finally has a chance to speak and said, "Kyle, I remember only vaguely, although what memories I have were of a good and true friend. Oh, and Bruce, it's not just you." The other guardians agreed about the first part.
Suddenly Chrissy said, "Katrina you're learning how to play the keyboard?"
Katrina said now super excited, "Yep! I've almost learned an entire song! Isn't that cool!"
Emily went, "Meow," in agreement.
The conversation carries on.
