The Discovery of Sailor Dragonspaw
By Lady Dragonspaw

Katrina forced her heavy eyes open. She took a deep breath and her mind ran through all the reasons she had to get ready and go to school. Katrina could faintly hear Darby, her older sister and legal guardian, snoring in the room next to hers. Katrina took one look at the digital clock on her nightstand and quietly screeched. She rushed out the door as quietly as she could. Katrina ran to her bus stop to catch the bus. The other kids in this suburb were already getting on the yellow school bus. As Katrina ran she nearly prayed that the bus driver would see her.
Katrina made it on the bus she flopped into the first seat and rested her head against the cool windowpane. Katrina couldn't seem to get her breath back for a while. The school bus made several other stops and the bus became quite crowded but the other middle-schoolers showed a decided aversion to sitting with her, and she remained in her seat alone.
Katrina sighed and muttered "This just boosts my ego."
She sighed again and thought about this place she now lived in. It was called Dementerville, Ohio. She recalled only a few years ago and how everything was different now. Her two loving parents had died four years ago. Her sister Darby being 25 and engaged had gotten custody of her 9-year-old sister. Darby's fiancé freaked at having an instant child and responsibility broke off their engagement. After that the pair moved only a few times but Katrina was sort of a loner and had few real friends. They ended up here a year ago. It was still the first week of school and Katrina didn't have any close friends, except for maybe Stephen. Sure she had friends, but only the kind you talk to at school. Katrina was lonely.

Later that day after school.
As Katrina left the Dementer Mall she spotted 3 boys beating up a creature in a small cage. Enraged she charged at the boys and loudly threatened them that she "would track them down and make them pay for all that they've done". The 3 boys didn't stick around to see what she would do and ran. Katrina reached into the cage and pulled the animal out. It was dressed in an odd and constricting pet clown outfit. Katrina pulled the clothing away from the cat, and discovered that it was a blue-point siamese cat with a silver crescent moon on its forehead. The cat glared with its blue eyes into Katrina's green. Then the cat leaped over Katrina's shoulder brushing Katrina's chin-length dark brown hair. Katrina suddenly noticed the time and exclaimed "Oh no, I might not have time to make dinner!!"
With that she ran off.
Katrina fixed beef pot pies as the instructions on the box indicated for Darby and herself. Darby had long since discovered that Katrina wouldn't eat any type of bird. The meat would just go to waste.
Darby came home catching her sister in a hug and said, "How was your day? Mine was packed full of children."
Darby was a tall stately blond with gray eyes. She would have been intimidating if her fun loving personality didn't show through in her near constant cheerfulness. Katrina wondered how anyone could think they were related when she compared herself to her sister. Katrina had dark brown hair and green eyes, was average in height, and built to look sturdy. One thing they did have in common was they could buckle down and get to work but still have fun. Darby worked at a near by museum doing a variety of things. Katrina knew the reason of their major differences was because Katrina had been adopted a few days after her birth by Darby's parents nearly 14 years ago.
After dinner Katrina went to her room to read while Darby did some paper work. Katrina had laid down and was reading when she heard the door to her room open a bit. Katrina turned wondering if it was Darby. She was stunned by what she saw just in front of the door. It was the cat she had saved. The cat looked intently at Katrina and said "Will you please come here so I can know for sure you are who I think you are," Katrina’s jaw dropped open and stared. Katrina obeyed still shocked. "Now, let's see. Do you eat the meat of winged creatures?"
"Of course not." Katrina replied.
"Alright, do feel as if you are a part of everything yet not?"
"Well... Yeah. Why are you asking me so many questions?"
"I'm identifying you. Now that I'm sure of who you are, let me introduce myself. I am a moon cat; I help you because of your alliance with the moon. My name is Shadow. I'm different from other moon cats; I'm more rebellious. More awesome," she faded off in her own dreams. "Now that that is out of the way I have something for you."
"What??" All this blew Katrina away.
Shadow did a big flip and a locket appeared. It at first seemed black with a paw print silhouette in white in the center. On closer inspection the background were stars. The locket had silver rimming.
Katrina said suspiciously, "What is this for?"
She slipped the object over her head and the chain stretched to her mid-chest.
Shadow looked at her and said " No trouble yet. Let’s go to sleep. Oh, and by the way should any trouble happen just say 'Dragonspaw power'."
So Shadow curled up beside Katrina and went to sleep. Katrina fell asleep also.
The next day Katrina was a little preoccupied at school and didn't even see a boy walk up to her. She started when he started speaking to her, "Hey Kat!! You're in your own world. Is anything wrong?"
She replied "What?!?! Oh, it's just you Stephen. Sorry, I have a lot on my mind."
Stephen Wilson was 14 years old, rather tall, and handsome with short silvery blond hair and bluey-green eyes. He was very popular in the Acorn Middle School they both attended. Katrina wasn't sure why he was nice to her seeing as she had no real friends. He had given her the nickname 'Kat' the first day they met in his attempt to get her attention; it used to make her angry. Stephen had called her that ever since then.
He asked, "Do you want to talk about it? I've been considered a good listener before."
Katrina considered telling him everything then decided not to, knowing he wouldn't believe her. Katrina was walking home from the Dementer mall when she heard the cries of a young girl. Shadow, who had been walking with Katrina, exclaimed, "Transform Katrina!'
Katrina transformed and ran toward the screams for help.
What greeted her eyes was shocking... to the fashion sensitive. There was a man and a woman FLOATING in mid-air wearing clothing that appeared to be made of tin foil. The female had a florescent purple beehive hair-do and blood red fingernails (painted). The male had long black hair in a braid down his back and a quiet look of uncaring about him. The screams were coming from some unfortunate girl in the grasp of a big weird octopus like thing that was sucking out her life force. The female shouted, "Who are you?"
Hesitating, Sailor Dragonspaw looked at Shadow and said "Uhh... Sailor Dragonspaw! Who are you!?!"
The woman said "I am Naska and beware my name might be the last thing you hear."
The man spoke in a slightly interested voice, surprising Naska, "I am Norif. So sad that I might not know you very long."
Sailor Dragonspaw shouted " Let that girl go you're killing her!"
The octopus-like monster dropped the still alive girl and advanced on Sailor Dragonspaw.
Naska replied "And what could you do to us? How amusing. Ha he ha, ahem. You have been amusing, and depending on how long you live you might even make Norif laugh."
Norif blushed taking the remark as a complement.
The octopus monster thing floated over to Sailor Dragonspaw and grasped her in its life-sucking tentacles. Sailor Dragonspaw muttered about her luck. Then out of nowhere an object goes plunk on the monster's head. The monster releases Sailor Dragonspaw and reaches to see what it was that hit him. It is a small candy heart labeled with the words "Be Mine", the monster gets very confused. Of what use could this object be?
While the evil creature pondered on what the words meant Naska, Norif, and Sailor Dragonspaw were looking at the stranger who had saved Sailor Dragonspaw. His entire outfit was white. He wore something like a white trench coat and white leather boots. His white slacks were close to baggy. He wore what appeared to be a white T-shirt underneath his jacket. He wore cool sunglasses that reflected gold. His skin was fair and he had blond hair. He said in hunky voice " I am the Draco Knight. I am sworn to protect justice from evil like you. Sailor Dragonspaw, I know you can get rid of this evil."
And with that he was gone. The monster had forgotten the candy heart by now and was advancing upon Sailor Dragonspaw. Shadow saw that her scout was still staring after the Draco Knight and yelled, "The monster!!"
Sailor Dragonspaw whirled around and froze. The octopus-like monster was charging her. She slapped the monster and started to run. Shadow tossed her a bright silvery object and said, " Put that on you left upper arm. I'll tell you how to use it later. For now go wear down that monster!"
Sailor Dragonspaw put her faith in Shadow and fought the monster tooth and nail. A little while later they were both panting with exaughtion. Neither the monster nor the Sailor scout were used to fighting. Shadow whispered to Sailor Dragonspaw "Now is the time to use the weapon I gave you earlier. Throw it into the air, point at the monster, and shout 'Draskin go!'"
Sailor Dragonspaw did as she was told and low and behold when she threw the silver bird cuff into the air and it became a real bird. It fluttered over to the monster and started pecking and flying around in a circle. At first the monster was unaffected then it started disappearing. Then the little bird burped and flew back to Sailor Dragonspaw. Naska started in shock and gasped. She sputtered "You might have won this fight but I will win the war! "
With that she disappeared and Norif commented chuckling "You sure showed her. A pity we will have to destroy you. So long."
He too disappeared. The Draco Knight said a heart touching good bye to her. Shadow congratulated her on her excellent job. The next day, Katrina was very tired and was practically falling asleep in her classes at school. Stephen was practically falling asleep in his classes too. At lunch Stephen asked Katrina about her new arm cuff. He said, "Where did you get your arm cuff?"
Katrina looked up into his hunky eyes and said "Uhhh.... Um."
She mentally debated wheather or not he would believe the truth and decided not to tell him.
Stephen looked hurt and said, "You aren't going to tell me are you?"
He thought, I should expect that she would keep secrets from me like I do her with my secret identity as the Draco Knight.
Until the next episode.
