Dragon-Tail KiRin are a subspecies of the mythical Chinese/Japanese unicorn known as the KiRin. Dragon-Tail KiRin, being the size of a full grown horse, spend most of their time in meadows and forests where they are free to run and wander easily. Unlike their close cousin the Mountain KiRin, they dont fair well in the mountains but it is not uncommon to see them living there. As with all species of KiRin they prefer to remain elusive, but unlike most do not have the power to grant wishs or good fortune.

The basic build (which is very similar to its cousin the Mountain KiRin) of the Dragon-Tail Ki'Rin is a 11-12 hands to the top of the head, hooved equine, with tough inpenetrable scales covering the back of the entire body. The underbelly is covered with thick scale-sheets. Tails on the Dragon-Tail Ki'Rin are always dragonic, hence its name. Manes are always horse-like with five colors in it. Beards are uncommon and are found on both males and females. They always have tufts of hair that run along the back of their legs. Horns are always curved forward and are rather short. Ears are equine. Eyes are dragonic.

Dragon-Tail KiRin live in groups made up of 5 pairs or groups made up of 1-2 males and 3+ females called Majesties. During the Breeding Season eah female can have up to 2-4 eggs. Unlike their close relatives the Mountain KiRin, Dragon-Tail KiRin's eggs are rock hard and are VERY hard to penetrate. Their eggs are a dull grey color. Nests are much like crocodiles nest, underground. And, also like crocodiles, the temp deturmines the gender of the offspring. Adult KiRin dig out the babys when they hear them calling. When the offspring have hatched they will stay near their mother until maturity which takes about 3 weeks. Hatchlings are grey and remain gray until maturity. When they do they usually find a mate and/or join a majesty.

Dragon-Tail Ki'Rin can interbreed with the Ki'Rin subspecies known as the Mountain Ki'Rin, because they are so closely related. Mountain Ki'Rin/Dragon Tail Ki'Rin crosses are not uncommon at all, but carry different genes then the purebreds do.

Different scale colors in Dragon Tail KiRin show rarity. Now a white Mountain Ki'rin, or even Dragon Tail Ki'Rin, are extremely rare to come upon. Although not completely unseen this color is hard to gain. White Ki'Rin carry the genes for every color.
