Aberrations

Abberations are not commonly encountered within the Known Lands campaign setting. Many are the remnants of dragon-induced mutations during the War of Destruction, that have since bred true.

Animals

The Known Lands are known for their prolific animal wildlife.

Constructs

Built by spellcasters and psions of legendary power, these creatures are rarely encountered outside of Dendradi ruins.

Dragons

The presense of true Dragons will be somewhat limited within the Known Lands campaign setting. However, as dragons and their kin were the ones to destroy the Dendradi Empire, those few that remain are quite powerful to have survived the centuries that have past.

Elementals and Outsiders

These extraplanar creatures will rarely be encountered within the Plane Prime of the Known Lands campaign setting. When they are encountered, it will often be at the whim of a spell or power used to conjure or summon one or performing duties as a Servitor Race of one of the Patrons. The only exception to this will be the lands about the walled city of Algoroth, on the Western Shores, where the Banelord Araminon, Demon-King of Algoroth, holds sway.

Fey

The fey of the Known Lands are either Seelie or Unseelie. The Seelie are most frequently encounters from the Celebration of Last Planting (half-way between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice) to the Celebration of the Final Reaping (half-way between the Autumn Equinox and the Winter Solstice). Adventurers and rural folk encounter the Unseelie fey during the "darker half" of the year, from the Celebration of Final Reaping to the Celebration of Last Planting.

Giants

All giants of the Known Lands campaign setting have at least two pairs of arms. This makes giants with rending abilities, particularly trolls, quite dangerous for those in close melee.

Humanoids

Many humanoid races call the Known Lands home. Some are native, while some originally came from other Planes of existence. Still more of the humanoid races are the descendants of created servants that fought in the War of Destruction.

Magical Beasts

Magical beasts are a common occurance within the Known Lands.

Monstrous Humanoids

Like humanoids, many monstrous humanoid races live within the Known Lands, though they are more prolific along the Western Shores, where more portals exist that connect to other realms.

Oozes

Oozes are rarely encountered within the Known Lands campaign setting.

Plants

Outside of the Bloodborder Woods, aggressive man-eating plants are rare within the Known Lands campaign setting.

Undead

Unintelligent undead are the creations of intelligent beings, serving masters either living or undead themselves. Most intelligent undead are either unclaimed souls not bound to a particular Patron, or beings profanely cursed to undeath by another, whether mortal or divine.

Vermin

Vermin of many types and sizes have found a home in the darker places of the Known Lands.
