The Annual General Meeting, which was scheduled for Friday 30th of January 1998 at 7hr30 pm at the St Esprit College, Quatre Bornes, has been postponed to the 27th of February at the same time and place.

Attendum - Motion by Clifford Bell, Treasurer: Excess expenditure of Rs 2000.00 to be approved under item "purchase of Celestron C-5 telescope and accessories".

Friday 27th February - Double-star night:
After AGM, Observation of Mesarthim (
g Ari), Trapezium (q Ori), Castor (a Gem), Algebia (g Leo), Acrux (a Cru), Toliman (a Cen), Zeta Cancri (z Can), Beta Monocerotis (b Mon) and Procyon (a CMi).

Friday 27th March - General observation night @ 7.30 p.m.

Saturday 3rd to Sunday 4th May @ 2.00 a.m. - Observation of the h Aquarid shower:
Radian nearly overhead, no moon and broad maximum.

Friday 26th June - General observation night @ 7.30 p.m.

Friday 31st July:
Predicted grazing occultation of 6.8 magnitude star SAO 158696 at south limb of first quarter moon.

Friday 28th August @ 7.30 p.m:
Observation of rings of Saturn at best opening, of Uranus at opposition and deep sky observing in Sagittarius.

Friday 25th September @ 7.30 p.m:
Jupiter near opposition (Sept 16). Shadow transit to Callisto and Io, and, transit of Io.

Friday 30th October - Open night @ 7.00 p.m:
Moon just pass first quarter, planets Jupiter and Saturn, Orion rising and Scorpion setting.

Saturday 31st October:
Occultation of Jupiter by Moon; Entry at 7.13 p.m. and exit at 8.37 p.m.

Monday 17th to Tuesday 18th November:
Maximum of Leonid shower; several hundreds per hour predicted. No moon.

Sunday 13th to Monday 14th December:
Excellent shower with many bright events, no moon.
