16 November 2000: A new executive was elected, Gerry Penny has agreed to stand as president for the upcoming season. Check the link to the executive page for a complete listing.
We have been given the date of June 24, 2001 for a non points CMRC sactioned race. Gerry has stated that he is committed to hosting this event, however he is going to need lots of help. If you want to volunteer, you can give him a call. It was mentioned at the meeting that he intends to hold a meeting before Christmas to discuss the action items. Once the meeting date has been set, it will be posted on the webpage. Some ambitious fundraising will be required in order to pull this off. Our financial picture shows we have a little less than $2000 in the bank account. Be sure to get your membership dues in early next year, we are going to need it.
Other topics discussed were the upcoming icerace next Feb. A vote was held and it was agreed that the club would pay the insurance for this event (approx. $300). The idea of promoting a snowcross event at the track was put on the table again, and was rejected.
27 August 2000: As most of you are aware, the Aug. 27 race was cancelled due to heavy rains. There doesn't appear to be much time left in the year, the next 2 weekends are already on the schedule. It looks as if we are going to drop it from the schedule entirely. One thing we have to consider is that if we reschedule, we will need to get extra insurance for this event. If it gets rained out again, we loose the money. Also, the rider turnout has been poor lately. Let me know via E-mail how you feel, should we schedule another event or drop it? It would appear that one extra race won't do much to alter the final standings.
5 July 2000: The make up dates for the two cancelled races have been finalized. They are Aug. 12 and Sept. 10. Aug 12 & Aug 13 will be run as one event, two motos on Saturday, and two motos on Sunday. All 4 motos will be added up for the trophy awards, however points earned in EACH moto will count towards the club championship. So if you can only make one day, you probably won't win a trophy, but you will add the points you got to your overall total. Also, we will be trying something new. We will be holding a quad race each day during the intermission between motos. Please note that due to insurance reasons, we cannot allow bikes and quads on the track at the same time. For that reason, we will be forced to follow STRICT practice times. The quads will practice from 11:15 to 11:45. Bikes will then practice from 11:45 until 12:15. Quads will get a second practice from 12:15 until 12:45. The track will then be closed for practice.

28 June 2000: There is not much to report on the cross country race, nobody has come forth to volunteer their time. It would appear that it is not going to happen.

10 June 2000: The race scheduled for June 11 is cancelled due to rain. We looked at the track, and the clay has turned to grease. A large section of the pits is under water, as well as almost all of the corners in the track. We will reschedule this race for later in the year. The new date will be posted at the track, as well as here on this website. Sorry for the inconvience.

10 June 2000: There are still a lot of club members who have not yet paid their annual dues. Remember, a lot of the money goes towards insurance, and we need to pay it. You have been paying the members fee when you race, so lets try to get our dues paid.

The bleachers have been built and fencing has been erected to keep the spectators off the track. The snow fencing was donated to the club by Northern Crane Services Ltd.

We are planning on organizing a cross country race in the fall. It will consist of a 10-15 mile loop, which we will run 3 or 4 laps. This is a tentative plan at this time, it is totally dependant on how much of the prework we get done, such as laying out the course, marking it, cleaning up hazards. We may run several classes for this event, depending on the entries.

Late last fall, a pond was dug down on the low spot of the course, beside the bottom straightaway. It needs to be dug larger, and we plan on doing so, but the good news is that it is full of water, and it filled all by itself. The water that is in it now came from the water table, so our predictions were right on. This will be a big help with our track watering program. Once we get it to the proper size, we will be able to pump out of it for dust control, there should be lots of water. We have tried to channel water into it from rain run off, we will see how it goes.
