Summer 1996

"Captain," Janeway looked up at the sound of the voice. It was Tuvok. She tapped her comm-badge to respond. "Janeway here. What is it?"

"Captain, we've detected a wormhole."

"I'll be there. Have a probe prepared."

"Aye captain."

With an excited smile she left her quarters and almost ran to the bridge.

"Report," she said, noticing that most of the senior staff was there.

Chakotay looked at her. "Captain, it leads to the alpha quadrant."

Incredible...Janeway looked at B'Elanna. "Stable?"

"Yes Captain. We won't have to make any adjustments to sheilds."

"Excellent. Tom set a course through the wormhole."

"Yes ma'm."

There was a bump the ship shook for several seconds. Then stilled. According to the data it would take 19 minutes to pass through.

It was the slowest 19 minutes of her life. Of everybody's life, but finally they could see the edges of the wormhole and beyond, the Alpha Quadrant and home.

Neelix ran onto the bridge. "Captain, we left our supply of Columbian Coffee at the other end of the wormhole!"

"What!" Janeway called out. "Turn the ship around! Now!"
