Summary: A different take on *that* episode.
Chakotay leaned back in his chair and rubbed his hands. Dry, much too dry. He considered asking Seven what she used to keep her hands moist, then decided not to. The ex-Borg would just say it was irrelevant.
His hands itched. He hated wearing gloves, but that would be one solution. He smiled slightly and nearly jumped when a hand was placed gently on his shoulder.
"Commander, you seem lost in thought."
He grinned at her. "Sorry Captain, just thinking." *Yea, right,* he thought. He was thinking about how it would feel to run his hands through her hair, to lather those lovely locks...Though it would have been much more interesting when they were longer. He sighed as he noticed Voyager's Captain was still looking at him.
Her attention abruptly shifted when Voyager shook violently several times, then stopped. He watched her stand. "Report!"
"Captain," Ensign Kim with the lovely dark hair said. "Sensors are detecting high energy phaser bursts to the starboard."
"Weapons fire?" She asked.
"Aye Captain. From the direction of the bursts, I'd say there are two cloaked ships."
She looked at Harry, then Chakotay. "Red alert. Evasive maneuvers." Voyager shook again as Chakotay glanced at Voyager's blond pilot.
"This is difficult," Tom said. "Readings are highly disorganized."
"Captain," Harry interrupted. "There is a high energy reading..." A violent explosion shook the ship. "One of the ships has been blown up." On the screen was the shaky image of a second ship.
"Captain, we are receiving an audio signal." Harry paused. "It's for Commander Chakotay." He sounded puzzled.
"Let's hear it," Chakotay said with a glance at Janeway.
A female voice barely understandable over the static filled the bridge. "Chakotay, thank-god its you. You must help me..."
"Captain," Harry said after the voice had faded, "Sensors indicate that her ship has been damaged."
"Get a lock on her and beam her directly to the bridge," Chakotay said. He was curious who this woman was. He didn't recognize the voice.
"Aye Commander." Harry fussed with the controls for several seconds before the familiar twinkling lights appeared and coalesced into a young, beautiful female humanoid.
She looked around the bridge fearfully, then she smiled at the sight of Chakotay. She ran over and wrapped her arms around him. "Chakotay darling you must help me." She ran her fingers through her frizzled hair.
Janeway glared at the intruder. "Who are you?"
The woman looked at Janeway. "My name is Kellin, and only Chakotay can help." She looked at him curiously. "You don't remember me, do you."
Chakotay shrugged then shook his head. "I'm sorry...Kellin."
She looked sad, then smiled. "Well, that isn't what matters, there were a lot of us that day. I have found you and now you can help me."
"How can we help you?" Janeway asked.
Kellin shook her head. "Only Chakotay darling can help me."
He shrugged again, feeling a bit embarrassed by all the attention being cast his direction. "How can I help you?" He asked finally.
She beamed at him as she took his hands. "Such lovely hands, they do such wonderful things."
Janeway gave her first officer a severe look of disapproval. "Who was chasing you?"
Kellin shrugged. "That was Remora, he doesn't like losing customers...But Chakotay, only you can save me from a fate worth than death." She pulled his hands to her lips. "I have a big date tonight, and I want you to wash and dress my hair like you did two weeks ago. Please," she pleaded.
