The lives of three friends are examined during the summer after high school graduation. Fenix (Sarah Byrd), Jaytree (Erick H. Weir), and Roman (James Hoenscheidt) are struggling to find happiness. With her mother driving her to succeed, Fenix begins to spin out of control. Jaytree searches for the perfect female companion while Roman becomes obsessed with drugs. The subject matter here is not new to the cinema, but the treatment is fresh and highly entertaining. Credit goes to director Nathan Blackwell who has made the most of a small budget, resulting in an impressive feature film debut. He had help from the refreshing cast of newcomers - especially Sarah Byrd. She has a presence that shines through the darkest moments. It's a performance that should ensure her a bright future in the movies. "Forever Midnight" hasn't been picked up for national distribution yet, but certainly deserves to see the light of day. |
