While I do not agree
with enacting legislation to prevent unethical conversions, I do not believe
that people have a right to come barging into a country just so that they
can fulfill their agenda of gaining souls for their particular God. If
these people are creating religious tension through their activities then
they should be deported immediately, and if they are insulting or degrading
other religions while trying to convert people they should be brought
to book for defamation. True followers of any religion will not try and
force their beliefs onto all and sundry by disregarding civilised behaviour
and religious tolerance. Sri Lanka need not be saved by these foreign
"God Squads". We are doing fine without the extreme religious
zealotry of missionaries. So please, dear missionaries, kindly take your
fundamentalism elsewhere and let us get on with our lives in peace. We
in Sri Lanka are happy to take part in each others religious celebrations
and we certainly do not want our religious tolerance to be sullied by
your provocative activities.
