We also wish to alert you to the fact that currently these POWs are being denied "compassionate" paroles by prison authorities: In December 2001, after a POW requested a "compassionate" parole to see a sick child and was refused, the POWs in Portlaoise Prison held a peaceful protest with regard to this matter and were viciously and brutally assaulted by prison authorities.
