Folk Notes – (quarternotes, actually)

The Official Newsletter of the Israel FolkStuff Society

Current issue and archives at: www.oocities.org/tzorafolk

A happy, healthy and kosher Pesach to everyone.

Only one article was received, this month so this month there is really only the calendar. Send and you shall receive.

Correction & Apology:

It has come to our attention that on page 1 of the March issue, the last line of each column was cut. FYI, it should have read:

Column 1: The Newport Folk Festival had virtually no effect on the development of folk-rock, nor did Alan Lomax’s, Pete Seeger’s or Theo Bikel’s opinion of Dylan’s choice of instrumentation.

Column 2: . Most of all he was oh, oh so righteous. Then Bringing It All Back Home blew me away.

Column 3: . The list of central figures that were not interviewed, presumably due to inacces- sibility or unwillingness, is even more impressive.

MILESTONES

Happy Birthday to: Larry Brandt, Shula Fuchs, Gayla Goodman, Ariela Orion, Amiel Schotz, Ed Strasbourger

SOUTH

Friday, April 4, Southern Jam...with Whip Cream!

The next Southern Jam, or more correctly, sing - around, is scheduled for Friday, April 4, at 11 AM in the picnic area opposite the Joe Alon Beduin Museum.

Due to road works please pay attention to the following change in directions. Coming from the north on route 40, drive south and PASS the familiar turn off to the museum at Lahav Junction. Continue southward a few kms.to the next intersection and turn left, following the signs to Lehavim and Arad. Stay on this road driving past Lehavim on the right and the forest on the left. You will see a sign on your right to the Joe Alon Museum. You can either turn left here and take the winding road through the forest to the museum or continue just a bit further and turn left at the Alon gas station. (The facilities are clean and friendly!) Follow the road to Kibbutz Lahav and the museum...pretty straight forward and uncomplicated. You will get to the wooden sign map of the forest where you make a sharp left and follow the road up to the parking lot. Go down the steps to the horseshoe picnic table.

Pack a picnic lunch and your instruments and a few favorite songs. Please bring copies of Rise Up Singing! See you there!

For further details phone Laurie 08-6532080 or 064-464377. I'll have my cellular phone on that morning to help direct any lost souls.
