Barriers
by Robert M. Velkym
The sun shone brightly upon the green flowing meadows surrounding the school. The air was clear and crisp, making every person glad to be alive. The morning dew coated the soft petals of the flowers, which glistened ever so slightly in the rising sun. The mountains in the distance were covered with the white snow caps and the evergreens of years gone by, making this entire scene unique.
But no.
They were students. Forced to sit behind a glass barrier that taunted them with a beautiful outside world. The wurr of air conditioning replaced the birds sweet song, the silent whisper of conversation, the winds low melody. This was the time of society conformed, life was artificial with only a 6 minute gap into the real world.
The gods smiled on a world were the youths of the human race were locked up against nature. Why was the torture pushed upon these young restrained minds? The air of the building dried their eyes and clogged their noses. The outside was were the students belonged, out there...
Out there...
Out there...
Out there where all is unhindered by all that forced and shaped upon youth.
Out there where all is pure and of truth,
Out there where all is our own,
Out there we're all alone...
The End
