Scene Two -  The Crowd

In the Investigation Department of the Central Kowloon Regional Headquarters (Police Station) - Nicholas is walking towards their main working room with a file in his hands. He makes a left turn into the large room where Eason is still on the computer and Shawn is talking on the phone. Nicholas walks over to Shawn and hits him on the head with the file. Shawn looks up and turns back to the phone. Eason notices Nicholas's presence.

Eason:    Hey Nick! What's the cause?

Nicholas:    The first determination is that the victim was slaughtered by the head with a hard object. Gillian said she will do a further dissection on the details. (Shawn quickly hangs up the phone and stands up)

Shawn:    Did you just call her, Gillian? Hey, I claimed her first! Next time, I'll go for the dissection.

Nicholas:    Who's the sergeant here? Besides Gillian's not an object. You can't claimed her. (Shawn gives Nicholas a curious look. Eason got up and walks over to them) What's up with the look? You too, big guy! (looks at Eason)

Eason:    Hey I want to know too.

Shawn:    What happened in the autopsy room?

Nicholas:    Nothing..

Eason:    Don't lie! Something happened.. (Looks at Nicholas suspiciously) 

Nicholas:    Nothing big.. I just found out that Gillian Chung is the Gillian from Parkside..

Shawn:    No way! That four eyed creature?

Nicholas:    Hey!

Shawn:    You gotta be kidding?

Nicholas:    I'm not. She admitted to it herself. (Nicholas walks over to take a seat at his desk) But I don't know why she's so cold now.

Eason:    Obviously, after what had happen back then? I would be too if I was her. 

Nicholas:    Yeah and it's all my fault..

Shawn:    Not quite, you weren't the prime.. (a moment of silence arises) [breaks the silence] Hey but I'm still interested in her. That's better at least we got something in common. Now I have something to say to her. (Nicholas shakes his head)

Eason:    You're too obsess man!

Shawn:    Hey, look who's talking? Who's girlfriend left for like 6 years and is still waiting for her to come back? (Eason's smile fades and walks back to his desk)

Nicholas:    Shawn! 

Shawn:    It's true, she did leave and he is still waiting.. (suddenly they heard a knock on the door. They turn around to see a man holding a bouquet of red and white roses)

Man:    Is Miss. Gillian Chung here? She has a delivery.

Shawn:     Gillian Chung? (Shawn looks at the flowers and turns away with a jealousy look)

Nicholas:    You got the wrong department.

Man:    (looks at the room number) This is the second floor, isn't it?

Nicholas:    Yeah, but you got that wrong building. The Forensic Building is next door.

Man:    Oh, sorry (The man leaves) 

Eason:    Wow, flowers on the first day already. This girl must have a strong attraction to guys.

Shawn:    I told you my taste isn't bad. I wonder who sent her those rose?. They look expensive. Maybe I should do that too.

Nicholas:    You're not going to give up, are you?

Voice:    (interrupts) Giving up on the case already? (They all turn to the door and sees a muscular build guy who's dressed in a blue dress shirt, with a tie and charcoal pants. His sleeves are rolled up)

Nicholas:    Oh Cool Sir!

Eason/Shawn:    Cool Sir!

Cool Sir:    So what's the problem here?

Nicholas:    Same problem, a lot of work and only three of us. We need more staff. 

Eason:    And a new inspector perhaps. That room had been empty ever since Tsang Sir left.

Shawn:    Yeah. Well Nick went for the board test last week. How was that? He can take the inspector position and I'll take his place. (Cool Sir smiles. Nicholas elbows Shawn) I'm just joking. 

Cool Sir:    You'll have your answer on Monday but tomorrow, there will definitely be new members to your squad.

Nicholas:    Thank god! After requesting it for 6 months, we're finally getting aid.

Cool Sir:    So how was the case today? Did you guys watch out for my wife?

Shawn:    Of course! (smiles)

Nicholas:    Actually, she kind of felt ill today. So she got the new pathologist to take over but Dr. Chan's fine now. So don't worry.

Cool Sir:    New pathologist? Dr. Chung? (Nicholas nods) She must be today's hot topic. I heard many people talking about her.

Shawn:    Cool Sir, you should have seen her. She's drop dead gorgeous! (Cool Sir smiles)

Cool Sir:    Oh really?

Eason:    Don't mind him, Sir. He's a little high today.

Cool Sir:    Well (looks at his watch) It's five already. They should be here now. 

Shawn:    Dr. Chan? (Cool Sir looks into the hallway and sees Flora and Gillian approaching)

Cool Sir:    Honey! (Flora and Gillian walks into the large room where the guys are)

Flora:    (gives Cool Sir a hug) Louis! (Gillian smiles)

Gillian:    Hey Chief Inspector Koo!

Louis (Cool Sir):    What's up little one?    

Gillian:    Hey, I'm not little anymore! (Shawn whispers to Nicholas, witnessing the scene)

Louis:    Well to me, you'll always be the little one.

Shawn:    (curiously) Um.. Cool Sir, you guys know each other? (Gillian then notices that she's in a room with Nicholas, Eason, and Shawn)

Gillian:    Cool Sir? (turns to Louis)

Flora:    (smiles) That's your uncle's nickname! (The guys jump with widen eyes)

Nicholas/Eason/Shawn:     Uncle?

Louis:    Yeah, Gillian's my niece. 

Eason:    (whispers to Shawn) I told you to watch out..

Louis:    What's that?

Eason:    Oh nothing. She's your niece? But you guys are only look like 6-7 years apart.

Flora:    Actually 5, don't they just look like siblings? (The guys nods while Gillian notices that Nicholas hasn't kept his eyes off her ever since she came in) 

Gillian:    Um.. Mr. Cool. Let's go! Mom's gonna scold at us if we come home late for dinner! 

Louis:    Oh yeah. We gotta go guys! (Louis, Flora and Gillian makes their way out of the room. Gillian, being the last one)

Shawn:    Gillian! (Louis, Flora and Gillian turns around. Gillian gives Shawn a suspicious look)

Gillian:    (to Louis and Flora) You guys can go first, I'll meet you in the parking lot! (to Shawn) So what do you want?

Shawn:    You're the Gillian from Parkside right? (Gillian waits for him to continue) I was just wondering if you remember me? I'm Shawn Yue. Used to be called 樂仔(Lok Jai), remember? (Gillian nods, waiting for him to go on) So you do remember. 

Gillian:    What are you really trying to say?

Shawn:    You don't look like..

Gillian:    (interrupts) The Gillian Chung  7 years ago right? Because I'm not. That's why you're looking at me with those eyes but I can tell you straight up. You have no chance. (Gillian eyes Nicholas quickly and walks out of the door)

Shawn:    Damn, she's hot! 

Eason:    You just got rejected without asking for it and you're still acting like nothing had happen?

Shawn:    I'm not going to give up. I like her bluntness. 

Nicholas walks back to his desk and takes a seat..

In a luxury apartment - Gillian, Flora and Louis comes out from the elevator and walks in the lobby of the 16th floor. There are two flats on the floor. One to the right and other to the left. 

Flora:    (to Louis) Louis, give me your bag. I'm going home first.. 

Louis:    Alright, be careful (Flora takes Louis' bag and walks to the flat on the right)

Flora:    Okay, I'm not going to take long. (Louis and Gillian then makes their way towards the flat on the left. Gillian rings the door bell)

Louis:    Don't you have the keys?

Gillian:    Nah, I just came back from England, don't you remember? I haven't been living in this house for ages and still not living in it.

Louis:    Oh yeah, how's your new place?

Gillian:    It's okay. Just a little too big for myself. (The door opens, a young lady appears at the door) Sammi!

Sammi:    Hey! (Sammi pulls the gate open to let them in)

In the Chung's residence - a big luxury apartment.

Sammi:    Hey how did you end up coming with Uncle Cool?

Gillian:    I work with him.

Voice:    Who's it? (A elder sophisticated lady runs out with a spatula in her hand and an apron on) Gill! 

Gillian:    Mom! Wa, you're cooking?

Sammi:    Scary huh? (Gillian and Sammi laughs)

Louis:    Liza 姐 (Jie/Sister), do you need help?

Liza (Mom):    No, it's okay. Paul's in there dealing with it. I'm just helping. Have a seat guys! (Liza walks back into the kitchen. Gillian, Sammi and Louis takes a seat in the living room) 

Sammi:    So how did you guys end up working together?

Gillian:    Well, I just happen to be placed at the Central Kowloon Region. Since Flora is leaving.. (Gillian glares sharply at Louis)

Louis:    What? She's pregnant. It's for her own good.

Sammi:    She's only two months pregnant, Uncle Cool!

Louis:    Stop calling me Uncle. I'm only two years old than you.

Sammi:    Well, biologically you are our uncle. We share similar DNA gens, right Gillian?

Gillian:    (Gillian rolls her eyes) Oh please Sam, stop using your so called science in your speech. It sounds so stupid. (door bell rings) That must be Flora! (Gillian walks over to open the door. She sees two men at the door. One slightly older than the other who's dressed in a suit. The younger one is casually dress) Hey Julian! (Opens the gate for them) Hey 姐夫! (Jie Fu/Brother in law)

Julian (younger guy):    Hey Gill, how was your first day of work?

Gillian:    It's alright! 

Sammi:    (to the older guy) Andy! (to Julian) Hey Chilam!

Julian:    Hey sis!

Andy (older guy):    (to Sammi) Hey honey, where's Tong Tong?

Sammi:    She's sleeping (As Gillian was about to close the door, she sees Flora coming. Flora enters the apartment and Gillian then closes the door)

Flora:    Hey everybody!

Sammi/Andy:    Hey Flora!

Julian:    (to Louis) You seem awfully ill today. According to Charles Richardson's pregnancy theory, it's called pre-insanity of pregnancy. It's written in chapter 3, page 120 of his book. It also..

Louis:    (interrupts) Okay, professor, let's not go into detail about my wife okay. It's just normal pregnancy symptoms. (Liza comes out from the kitchen with a dish in her hands)

Liza:    Why are you all standing there? Dinner's ready! Paul! (A elder man walks out from the kitchen with another plate)

Paul:    Let's eat guys!

Gillian:    Dad, let me help you! (Gillian walks up to the dining table where Paul places the dish)

Paul:    It's alright, but you can wake up Tong Tong. 

Voice:    It's okay. She's up! (They turn to see Andy holding a little girl in his arms. Andy puts the girl down on the floor while everyone is taking their seats around the long table. The little girl runs to Gillian)

Girl:    姨姨! (Yee Yee/Aunty)

Gillian:    Hey Candy! Come on, you can sit with me.

Candy (Tong Tong):    Okay! 

Sammi:    No, it's okay. Don't bother your aunt. Sit with mommy. (Candy walks over to Sammi and takes the seat beside her)

Everyone is eating at the dining table. Paul sitting in the center of the rectangular table with Liza to his right, Sammi beside Liza with Candy beside her and Andy at the end. To Paul's left is Louis, then Flora, then Julian and lastly Gillian at the end. 

Gillian:    So Sam, how's business doing at your beauty salon?

Sammi:    It's okay but lately, the mall has been really dead.

Flora:    Why?

Sammi:    People said there's ghost.. 

Julian:    What the heck? So unscientific! 

Gillian:    I know. It's probably just rumors. 

Sammi:    No, I believe in it.

Julian:    Then you're naive!

Sammi:    Hey! I'm older than you, how can you talk to me like that? (Julian sticks his tongue out. Candy laughs)

Paul:    That's enough guys! Stop acting like two year olds! So Gillian how's your new apartment?

Gillian:    I'm still settling down right now. It's quite big actually. There are 4 rooms and I really only need one. I don't know what to do with the other rooms.

Liza:    Kenny sure know how to waste money..

Sammi:    He's rich, mom. He doesn't mind. 

Gillian:    I mind. I'm the one living in it. And I actually thought, having him find me a place before I actually coming back to HK will easier for me to settle down.

Andy:    Well, you didn't have to do much anyway. He had everything ready for you. The furniture, the utilities and even the car.

Gillian:    I guess I'm pretty lucky.

Paul:    Call him over for dinner one day.

Gillian:    Alright, but you'll have to wait till he comes back from Scotland. He went to attend a wedding there.

Louis:    When did he leave?

Gillian:    (poking at her food with the chopsticks) Today..

Julian:    Somebody's mad..

Flora:    He sent her roses to apologize today..

Gillian:     That doesn't make up for telling me last minute.

Paul:    Come on, Gill. Don't be so childish. He's a very busy man. He has so many patients to worry about and on top of that has you.

Gillian:    Hey, are you saying that I'm troubling?

Everyone laughs and the chat continues at the dinner table...
