STATEMENT OF PHILOSOPHY

The core of independent music making is a good grounding in the basics which, in turn, will allow students to develop their interests by using their skills and understandings creatively. It is important that students be involved in establishing their goals for musical growth. Their instructor can help them discover worthy, realistic goals for each semester.

CURRICULUM

A work plan to accomplish objectives is based on the mastery of basic musical concepts and is focused on the experiencing of music as a language, the development of the technical skills and the theoretical understandings which support the student's musicianship. The long range goal is to take the student from "where they are" toward "where they want to go" with some "where they can go" along the way.
