Aerith sell flower in Midgar, not exactly the best way to making a living; although, judging by the house she live in with her 'mother', Aerith is probably better off then most people.
Aerith doesn't have a Hana-ya (flower shop), her flowers come from a small bed in an abandon church, which she personally tend too. That's a good things, that's means her flowers are always fresh! ^_^
Florist:
People who sell flower or plants are called florist, duh!! Not, flower girl or flower boy or flower person... although, you can argue that Aerith is just simply a girl who sell flowers. Eh, confuse? Consider the following:
For those of us who buy flowers, knows that you always get it in some sort of arrangement. In the a flower shop, the florist arrange it for you, and all you have to do it pick the flowers, ribbon and wrapping paper. If you buy flowers in the supermarket (at least in Toronto you can), it comes prearrange for you... this is what we call a bouquet. I've personally never came across a single flower dealer. ^_^;
But, than what do you do with a single flower? Heck, what did Cloud do with that flower he bought from Aerith... that's if you chose to by a flower. ^_^

Unfortunately, Aerith doesn't remain the a 'the flower girl' for long. She join Cloud on his quest... and well, the rest as you know it is history. ::sigh::
