Prologue
It was a cool and quiet night. Senritsu and I took orders from Darutsorune to watch for any major movements of the auction house. The important guests were all gathered inside the building opposite to us. We were watching from a medium high building from the other side.
There wasn't much happening yet. Occasionally, a few people came out for a smoke or to stretch their legs; but other than that, there wasn't much else.
It took me by surprise when Senritsu suddenly asked me about the Scarlet Eyes. She told me that she was able to listen to people's heartbeats and tell their emotions. That was pretty amazing, but I didn't complement her, maybe I should've.
So I told her about it. Why I became a hunter and what happened to the Kuruta clan. I forced myself not to show much angst against it. Once I let the hater come out, it was hard to control it. It was kind of useless anyway, consider that she could hear my heart. As usual, I only told her what she needed to know, the same thing I say to everyone else. She didn't have to know how my people died, how Dad died, how Kaze died.
Strange as it might seem, I always get a refresh of that day every time I talk about the Kuruta clan. Always get the same awful feeling. No matter how many times I say it, the feeling still clung onto me like a hungry leech, filthy and disgusting and unwilling to let go.
That day.
