Minutes

The regular meeting of the Friends of the Library was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by President Diane Culpepper. Attending the meeting were Connie Gregory, Vice-President, Barbara Egan, Secretary, Cheryl Crayton, Treasurer, Debby Eads, Publicity Director, Mandi Moody, Historian, June Dowdell, Jessica Siegrist.

The minutes of the June 7th meeting were read. Motion was made, seconded and passed to accept the minutes as read.

The Treasurer reported there is a balance of $1,423.92 in the bank.

Diane Culpepper will be listed as the third signature on the bank account.. Any two signatures are required on a check. Motion was made, seconded and passed.

Connie spoke on the Library happenings at the Commissioner's Court. EMCID will provide $500,000.00 for the façade of the building. Any left over money will go towards furnishings, books, etc. Once the deed, $500,000.00 check and agreement on the building are brought to Commissioner's Court, the library will go forward.

Jessica said Dan wanted to know how the cart for the Friend's sale books is working. It was agreed that for the present it seems to be fine. She suggested replacing the magazine shelves in the entrance of the library, getting a different arrangement so that all the space would be utilized. Diane wants to ask Dan what he would suggest. In the future, when Friends allocates money for a library project, he would like to be informed.

The Rotary Club is going to donate books to the library since Dan was a speaker at their meeting. It was decided to fund lunch for Dan at the Rotary Club on special occasions. Cindy is asking for money for the children's summer reading prizes, junior volunteers, and gift bags. Motion was made, seconded and passed to give her $120.00.

A discussion on the people to make change, etc. out of the Friend's money in the library was held. It was decided that only board members including Juanita Millard and June Dowdell will be allowed to handled the money.

The YA program has over 100 kids signed up. Half Price book store provided books for the program. Motion was made, seconded and passed to purchase a $25.00 gift certificate from Half Price for first prize. The party refreshments were approved for $20 - 40, leaving the amount open. Receipts will be turned in and reimbursed. Motion made, seconded and passed to cover costs as needed.

There has been $100.00 donated as a result of the business letters Debbie sent out. Twenty-one members have paid dues in Friends.

The next meeting will be Monday, August 11th at 6:30 p.m.

There being no further business to discuss, motion was made, seconded and passed to adjourn meeting at 7:30 P.M.
