In the story there is a 12 year old boy named Gordon who goes on an overnight trip with his friends Chuckie and Mike and the whole grade, to an island. On the way there, there's a big storm, they make it to the island but there's no communications and no power and the boat goes back to mainland. They tell ghost stories and Dr Resney (the tour guide) tells a story about Captain Amos, the ghost who lives in the house beside the light house on the island. That night, Gordon and his friends, Chuckie and Mike, sneak out to the lighthouse and they see a man come out of the house beside the lighthouse with an axe and he threatens to kill them if they don't get off his property. They run away in fear and make it back. The next day the storm is cleared up so everyone went exploring along the beach. Gordon and his friends find pilot whales that are stranded on the beach that will die if they don't help them. Was that really the ghost of captain Amos? Will the whales survive? You will have to read the book to find out. |

I have read other books by Eric Walters, I have read: "Camp X" and "The Money Pit Mystery". I read this book because I have read other books by Eric Walters and I really enjoyed them, and my friends told me it was good so I went to the library and checked it out. |

I recommend this book to kids age 10-14. Its not too hard or too easy, it has a good number of pages. It's a very exciting book. Eric Walters uses so much description and writes so well that you feel like you're actually there. |
