History of the Bus
"White Rino," was born on June 3, 1963 and delivered to the United States on July 3, 1963.  It was delivered to a dealer in San Diego, CA.  who had the camper conversion installed by Riviera, an authorized conversion.  The original purchaser picked the camper up there and drove it to Florida on vacation.  The original purchaser was an older gentleman from Roseburg, OR.  He was of the old school and believed in maintaining his mechanical equipment.  He used the vehicle seasonally, but eventually passed away and his wife stored the camper.

The bus was later purchased by a nephew, a fireman about 40 years old, from Ashland, OR., who stored the bus in his garage.  He eventually had the transaxle rebuilt at 49,000 miles.  The following owner, Paul Harrison of Kanab, UT., purchased the bus on March 24, 1993.  At that time it had 54570 miles on it.  He was a true VW enthusiast with three busses, one Ghia and an oval window beetle in his backyard.  He Kept the bus for an annual camping trip with his wife, and was sad to part with it when he sold it to me on July 22, 2000.

When I bought the bus, it had 61,685 original miles on it and the engine had been rebuilt at about 52000 miles.  The engine is the original engine (I have paperwork to document) with the original six volt wiring system still installed.  I bought the bus so that I could drive it to Whistler B.C., last summer for a summer ski vacation with a couple of buddies.  But alas, I can no longer afford to provide the maintenanc and care that this vehicle needs to survive, and I would hate to see it die.  This vehicle needs an owner who has the time and money to lavish it with plenty of attention.  If you like what you have read, and can provide the kind of love this bus needs, I can tell you more.  I also have more pictures if you would like to see them.
