Lies that keep people
from Christ.
Delivered by Pastor
        Chuck Marshall
And when the weather was nice, Father and children would romp together
on the back lawn while Mother looked on with happy smiles.

Then one day a village gossip started a story, saying that he was being unfaithful
to his wife, a story entirely without foundation.
But it eventually came to the ears of the young wife, and
it was more than she could bear.
Reason left her, and that night when her husband came
home, there was no one to meet him at the gate, no laughter
in the house, no fragrant aroma coming from the kitchen-
only a cold feeling that chilled his heart with fear.

Down in the basement he found the threeof them.
Sick and in despair, the young mother had first taken the
lives of her two children and then her own.
In the days that followed, the truth of what happened
came out - a gossip's tongue,a fabricated tale,
a terrible tragedy. This isn't just the story of the damage
done by an untamed tongue. It's the story of a woman
who believed a lie, a lie that didn't fit with what she knew
about her husband, a lie she didn't have to believe.
What a tragedy, but no greater a tragedy than when
someone believes  a lie that keeps them from coming to Christ

And keeps them from bringing other to Christ.
6. Coming to Christ will take all the fun out of life.
Coming to Christ means you are submitting to one who
is the rigthful ruler of your life.Does that mean there will
be boundaries for you.Of  course it does.
We tell our children "No" and expect them to live in
a disciplined manner because we want themto be
productive, worthwhile, and liked. So what's the
problem? What's good enough for our children isn't good
enough for us? Because a parent wants his child to amount
to something, does that make him kill-joy? Or does it maen
he's working for his child's long term joy?
Autually the Lord is the author of joy and pleasure.
"In his presence there is fullness of joy, at his right hand
there are pleasuees for evermore." But he wants to give
pleasure without guilt, joy without need of judgment.
To say that being a Chistian takes all the fun out of
life is like spreading a rumor just before christmas that
the toymaker hates for children to have fun.
the toymaker invents ways for them to have fun.
Yes, pleasure without refernce to standards has to go.
But low living, boundryless pleasure is hollow, ruins
lives, and gets people hurt. Is that really fun?
7.Christians are no better than anyone else.
It certainly is not true that just because a person is a
chirstian,he will always do better than someone else just
because that person isn't a christian. Christians time  and
again prove themselves to be capale sinners. Sin just looks so much
worse on a christian. It's such a contrast with what you have
