The dutch breed: "de hollandse SMOUShond""
"Dillejane van t Nienoord, named Dieuwke,  was our first smoushond, here pictured as a puppie .
She died last year at the age of 15 years, I was obliged to put her asleep because she had c.. everywhere , (I am sorry I cannot write that word on paper)  and could not move anymore, her joints were "worn".
She was to tall for a smoushond but had an excellent hard and wire coat, and a very good caracter, very obedient and good for doing courses with.
When she was at about 4 years old we decided to buy a second smoushond,
Rowena.
The dutch smoushond was extinct in the 40 s, and bred back with dogs that look like them, like the softcoat wheaten terrier, the border terrier , the schnauzer, and mongrels .
The breed is not (yet) recognized by the international kennel club (FCI) , so Rowena only got the Dutch title, she won her last one on "The Winner" . She has got 7 titles (CAC) in total.
Dieuwke and Rowena on the couch, a few weeks after being  plucked.  The hair on the head is shortened but not removed completely. They have to be plucked twice a year.
When Dieuwke was  on the couch Orry was nearby!
She liked  lying on Dieuwke s back.
3  smoushonden  from   Rowena s breeder, Sil the dog and Fraauwke, who is Rowena s mother; and Feyoena, the first Dutch champion of all hollandse smoushonden.
With "Knabbeltje" our hollander rabbit
My dear Rowena died 15.4.2004,I will never forget her.
My chapter of the dutch smoushond is now closed, but I will always love this breed !

We have had Rowena cremated.
