Use of Home Economics Complex

When working in the Home Economics Complex, students should take note of the followings:

1. Students should not enter the Home Economics Complex prior to the teacher's permission.

2. Never run of play in the Home Economics Complex.

3. Avoid clutter on floor areas, keep the work tables free from garments, school bags, and unwanted materials etc.

4. Use the sewing machine only with the teacher's approval.

5. Remove fabric scraps from the floor and clear all surfaces at the end of each needlework lesson.

6. Return materials, equipment and utensils to their proper places after use.

7. Adopt correct postures when lifting and moving heavy or bulky equipment to avoid strain and injury.

8. Clean the work tables, dirty dishes, stoves or cookers, sinks and side cupboards tops.

9. Mop up spills on floor immediately to prevent any risks of slips or falls.

10. Tie up hair, wear apron and remove the watch. Roll up sleeves if necessary and wash the hands.

11. Do not sneeze and cough over food. Cover all cuts and wounds with a sterile, waterproof dressing. Keep fingernails short and clean.

12. Wash tea towels and dish cloths after every use.

13. Never touch electrical appliances with damp or wet hand or when standing on a wet surface.

14. Turn off the water heaters, water taps, electrical switches and gas mains before leaving the room.

15. Report immediately all accidents and breakage to the teacher.
