Notes for Frances MURRAY

The family tree done by Harriet Thurtell about 1900 and the History of
the Thurtell Family done by Susan Persia Thurtell about 1968 show Frances
Thurtell was unmarried.

Information received from Peter Murray in 1997 shows that the last name
was Murray. His research indicates that Frances Murray, born August 24,
1866,
must be the daughter of Judge Walter Murray who long resided with the
family of C. B. Rutherford, Esq., of Oakland, California, a life-long
friend of Judge Murray. Frances Murray lived (perhaps around 1930) at
349-34th Street, Oakland California, and maintained a correspondence with
the Thurtell and Murray relatives overseas. She spoke much of the
Thurtell family connection, but according to her grandnephew Murray
Warden she did not know the details of the scandal that had caused the
name change from Thurtell to Murray.
