Notes for Anne BARBER

The family tree done by Harriet Thurtell about 1900, the 1963 Thurtell
Family History done by Frances Thurtell McGregor about 1963, History of
the Thurtell Family done by Susan Persia Thurtell about 1968, all in
possession of Susan Persia Thurtell Miller, show that Benjamin and Anne
Thurtell lived in England at Hobland Hall, Hopton, Suffolk, England.
Their six children were all born at Hobland Hall.

The IGI file at the LDS Family History Center shows that Benjamin
Thurtell and Anne Barber were married November 9, 1820, at Hopton by
Lowestoft, Suffolk, England.

Information received from Charlotte Mackie in 1997 shows that the
Register of Marriages in the Parish of Hopton, Suffolk County, England,
for 1820, shows that Benjamin Thurtell of the Parish of Wighton, Norfolk,
a bachelor, and Anne Barber, a spinster, of this parish were married in
this church by license this ninth day of November in the Year One
Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty by Mr. Edward Thurtell, Curate of
Pakefield. This marriage was solemnized in the presence of Judith
Barber, Caroline Thurtell, and Wm. Barber.

Information received from Charlotte Angst Mackie in 1997 shows that Anne
Barber Thurtell died September 1, 1834, and is buried at Hopton Old
Church, Suffolk, England. Additional information from Charlotte Mackie
shows that the Mormon Library records showed that the Register of Burials
in the Parish of Hopton, Suffolk County, England, for 1834, page 11,
lists Anne, wife of Mr. Benjamin Thurtell (abode: Yarmouth), was buried
on September 6, 1834, in the Parish of Hopton by Lowestoft, with the
ceremony performed by Barth. Ritson, Perpetual Curate, and that Anne was
age 38.
