Notes for Ellen THURTELL
A brochure prepared by Charlotte V. Mackie, of Guelph, Ontario, "Benjamin
Thurtell and Descendants" for the "Woodlawn Cemetery Self Guided Memorial
Walking Tour," Woodlawn Cemetery, 762 Woolwich Street, Guelph, Ontario,
Canada N1H 3Z1,shows that Ellen Thurtell and Charles Mickle were married
at the home of her father, Benjamin Thurtell, in 1844. It also shows
they had thirteen children born from 1845 to 1869, all of whom were
raised in Puslinch Township, Ontario, Canada, where her husband had a saw
mill, and at Langholm, the Guelph Township farm that in 1997 was the
Ignatius College, Jesuit Community, on Highway 6. She is buried at
Woodlawn Cemetery.
The 1998 LDS British Isles Vital Records Index CD shows that Ellen
Thyrtle, daughter of Benjamin Thyrtle and Anne, was born in Gisleham and
christened on March 18, 1827, as recorded in the Bishop's Transcript for
Suffolk County, England (FHL number 918510).
