Notes for Eliza THURTELL

The History of the Thurtell Family done by Susan Persia Thurtell about
1968 and the family tree done by Harriet Thurtell about 1900 show show
Eliza Thurtell married Hy. Glasspoole Woods and had no issue. The IGI
shows Eliza Thurtell, daughter of George Thurtell and Eliza, was baptised
February 15, 1818, at Blundeston-cum-Flixton, Suffolk, England.

Information received from Peter Murray in 1997 shows that Eliza Thurtell,
born February 3, 1818, at Flixton, Suffolk, was baptised February 15,
1818, at Blundeston-cum-Flixton. She died October 15, 1890, and is
buried at St. Margaret's Church, Lowestoft, Suffolk, England.

She married in Blundeston on September 23, 1845, Henry Glasspoole Woods,
who was born February 21, 1822, at Oulton. He died January 17, 1895,
aged 73, and was buried at St. Margaret's, Lowestoft. He was a brewer
and wine and spirits merchant (firm of Morse & Woods), residing at Rose
Cottage (possibly built for himself) on Church Road, Lowestoft; in later
life he lived at Blundeston Hall, the Woods family estate, which adjoined
White House Farm where the Thurtells had lived. It is interesting that
his brewery was on the former site of the Lowestoft China Factory. They
had no children.
