Notes for Grace WITHROW
The 1926 "History of William Withrow" by Nellie Stanton shows Grace
Withrow had been educated at the State Normal school at Platteville,
Wisconsin, and had been a school teacher in Grant County, Wisconsin.
After her father, George Withrow, joined the gold rush to the Klondike
region in Alaska in 1896, his wife and daughters, of whom the youngest
was Mary Belle, aged twelve years, moved to Chicago, where the eldest
taught in the Chicago public schools. The second, Grace, became
secretary to the postmaster, and the two youngest engaged in art work.
Bertha attained remarkable success as a portrait artist. Grace died in
Phoenix, Arizona, 1903, and Bertha in San Antonio, Texas, 1907.
