The numbering system used in the following information is as follows: The generation one ancestor is given a number for identification, e.g., 1, 2, or 3. Where necessary, as in the case of James Foy (2-1), an unknown ancestor (i.e., 2) has been assumed to align the generations. For all subsequent generations, each individual is assigned a number that includes the number of his immediate ancestor and a final digit(s) that indicates the order of his/her birth among the children of that ancestor. For example, the number for Jacob Foy, Jr, 1-3, contains the number of his father (1) and the digit "3" indicating that he is the third child of his father Jacob. His son, William, in turn, has the number of his father, (1-3) and the final digit "1" indicating that he is the first child of his father Jacob Foy, Jr. The only exceptions are stepchildren, who are given final digit(s) sequentially in order of birth, but beginning after all natural children.
