Sparks the Rage Fire

Prelude:

Sparks was born in the mid North West Territories (part of what is now Nunuvut) and was raised in an intensly private village of Inuit people mostly unknown to the outside world. They remained segregated from the rest of the country and refused any help that was offered over the years. The land on which they lived became what the white men called a "reserve", but they refused to see it as that, nor remain confined to it. The community, unbeknownst to many living even within it, existed for the purposes of a strong sept of Wendigo. The people of the settlement followed those who were Garou even though they didn't know their true form - being a village descended from people who respect strengh, they respected the Garou as a result of the Curse that instilled fear in them. The Garou protected the village and the nearby caern from the Wyrm minions of the arctic, and the people of the village helped sustain the caern by hunting and fishing and performing all of the necessary menial work to sustain them. Kin of the Garou there worked hard to ensure that the sept and the village prospered through the years, and to keep the persistent white men out.

Sparks was born of Kin and Garou stock and known to be Garou from an early age. She was fiesty even from the beginning and matured somewhat arrogant, knowing her true blood and purpose. She did not let her arrogance blind her, however - she was Ragabash, and she was keen. As one born with little Rage she was told that it would be difficult for her to be a strong warrior, but she had such a fire in her that she often bested even Ahroun in combat with her determination, her sharp reflexes and a multitude of tricks she began to pick up over the years. That would be what earned her her spirit name - she taunted and prodded someone into frenzy during her challenge for Rite of Passage.

As a Garou with less outright Rage, she chose Lupus as her favourite form for fighting, hunting, stalking, or just about anything she could get away with. This has made some Lupus she has known over the years a little more comfortable dealing with her than some "two-legs", but it has also had the effect of making just as many think she is mocking them, or that she believes she is as skilled as they are. Sparks didn't particularly care either way.

The weaver and wyrm influences of the north grew with the expanding technology of the world. Life in the village began to be more taxing on the Garou, who now fought more feverishly than before. The humans and kin found their hands full dealing with white men trying to claim their land for weaver and wyrm designs. Eventually this led a powerful creature of the Wyrm to the village, and many of the village were killed in the attacks, or were alienated after being caught in the Delirium when little other recourse was left for the Garou who defended them. In the end, after several years of slowly losing numbers and faith in the people of the village, they were forced to separate from them. Most kin and humans moved away from the grounds where the village once settled, and the Garou sept found themselves very much alone, without the help of the humans and kin to support them in the frigid arctic as they held their Caern.

It was in a winter soon after that food was running low, hunting was difficult with so few resources to devote to it, and the caern was under relentless attack by the Wyrm minions of the north. Though the sept fought valliantly they were defeated, and the caern fell. Their sorrow was felt all across the frozen north, for a Cearn falling in the season of Wendigo's greatest strength was a horrible blow. Many died, but Sparks knew there was little she could do, little that stealth and speed and the spirits alone could lend her against these powerful foes, and she was forced to flee and hide.

With no caern left to protect, the surviving members of the sept formed a pack together and began roaming the North. Now that they were not bound to guard a Caern hunting was a little easier, and through the years they became a formidable fighting force. Sparks was one of the younger members of the pack when it formed, but by the time she left she was the alpha and an Elder in the nation.

Sparks did not initially want to be part of the Northern Caern. The memories of what had happened to her sept's caern haunted her, and she did not wish to be bound to one again, especially one whose risk was an even greater one. She was at odds with her pack on the matter, and she even left the pack and wandered alone for a time. Then, over 20 years ago, a howl of mourning was carried to her on the winter winds, and she took it as a sign that Great Wendigo was giving her the chance to redeem herself, both to herself and to the nation.

Concept:

Sparks is a haughty, playful, sneaky girl. Though the years have hardened her and the loss of the Caern she called home has cut her deeply, she is still strong, and has still served Gaia to the best of her ability through her years. She enjoys calling others on their words, and tests those she would allow into her pack with taunting and games of wit.

Roleplaying hints:

You are of Wendigo. You are strong, you are wise, and you will defend this Sacred Caern to the death. You take comfort in the relative solitude of the Caern and have put all of your pride into guarding it. More than that, though, you are the voice of reason and questioning that will keep those guarding this Caern together, and you know it. You are thoughtful, insightful, and make good use of the words you use. You question carefully and precisely, and you do so often. You are quick to put others in their place, especially Ahroun who believe themselves to be the only true warriors, and Lupus who believe themselves to be the only masters of the Wolf Form. Gaia has blessed us all, and all may become masters.

From time to time, you long for stories of the peoples of the North, remembering your time with the village to which you were born. However, you hide your longing through a bitter shroud. The stories speak to your heart and strengthen your resolve. You will not let Great Wendigo down again. And neither will you allow them to.

Suggested Gifts: Gifts of tracking, speed, stealth and manipulation.
