This portrait of St. Ignatius was done posthumously
by Jacopino del Conte in 1556.

The painting is now in Rome at the international headquarters office (the Curia Generalizia) of the Society of Jesus.

This painting depicts Ignatius writing the Constitutions, the rules of the Society of Jesus.

The painting was done at the time of Ignatius' beatification in 1609.

Ignatius began the Constitutuions in 1541. These statutes were approved by the first General Congregation in 1558.
