WHAT: What you are going to learn today is what is stress, combat stress or operational stress. How it can affect you during and after operations and what you can do to minimize the effects on yourself and your friends.
WHY: We know from past operations that 20% of our personnel will not suffer any effects from operational stress. 75% of will suffer minor stress reactions from 4 - 6 weeks after returning from an operation and approximately 5% can suffer from long-term stress reactions.
WHERE: Any time you are involved in life threatening situations, whether it be internal security, UN operations, or in training. A Combat Stress Reaction can occur after one traumatic incident or it can also have an accumulative effect after being in the field for extended periods or even a delayed effect which can happen after you have returned home from an operation.
